Bangkok

Out of India and off to Bangkok!

Well our departure from India was pretty much par for the course. Doing the tourist route from New Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Varanasi and back to New Delhi, you get to seem a lot of the same travelers. So on our train ride back to Delhi, we recognized a couple from Spain who were staying at the same hotel as us and Sam and Dan form Australia (who was seated in the same area as us). In fact, both groups arrived at the Visit India Tour's office as we were leaving the office in Delhi. Then after we c...

Getting paranoid!

Another take off missed. Got to Bangkok and put my fanciest, pinkest floatiest dress on. Within 5 minutes I got asked if I was a boy or a girl!!!

Checked in and the receptionist said "I shoot you", only to produce his mobile and take a picture...phew, panic over and pose once more! Beautiful, boy or girl?- he quips. I've had enough of this! Woke up to cockrels at dawn...weird, they are right below my window amongst all the skyscrapers.

Arrived in the evening and went to the re...

Partying in BKK!

We've been partying hard since we got here and last night was no exception. I was exhausted and didn't even want to go out as I could barely keep my eyes open but some couchsurfers wanted to go for dinner so we went along and then dinner turned into drinks and then drinks turned into clubbing. Went down to the tacky hell hole that is Kosam road complete with drunks, hookers, ladyboys and all manners of things on sale.

We opted for one of the street bars (basically ...

A drastic new hairstyle

... it looked pretty bloody awful (it was midway down my back!)....after half an hour of the long version I went back and asked nicely if he'd shorten it to shoulder length - better- but still pretty out there. “My mystery city”

... had to
be a big city, multi-cultural/ lingual. I chose three cities that possibly possessed
these characteristics. They were New York, Geneva and a Mystery city. Bluewater... but better

... numerous bars however there are also kitchen carts offering pad thai, shops selling bootleg anything (from designer boxers to my new fake Raybans), stray dogs and cats, western food outlets (the infamous pizza places cropping up here and there), shops, clothes shops, smoothie booths, pubs, places offering thai massage, and copious illuminated signs.

We ate in this street side cafe - the sort of place that has plastic tables and chairs and just ...

'Ketchup' says Papa Tomato

... as the cliche goes not forgotten. Next day we spent swimming and snacking at Ao Pai beach which was pleasant and relaxing enough with some minor thai musical celebs seated at the same bar (according to Yui). Had to make the walk back to the pier on foot because none of the song thaews were running in that direction for some reason. Oh, and it was raining... hard... really hard. We strolled along drenched to the bone while people taking shelter stared at ...
