... near. At 7:00 we arrived at Burney Falls, where it was 92 degrees at the parking lot (in the shade!), although a good 20-30 degrees cooler down at the base of the falls! One neat thing about Burney Falls is that some of the water comes from the creek spilling over the falls, but a LOT of the water actually seeps through the porous volcanic rock wall fed by underground springs. Unlike many California waterfalls, it never dries ...
... strewn throughout the area. " Hot Rock" is a 300 ton boulder that landed 5 miles from the eruption. I think that would take the gold medal in the shotput! The park also has Bumpass Hell, which is an active hydrothermal area. America has many world #1s and another is here. " Big Boiler" is the hottest fumarole in the world at 322 degrees F. Spent the rest of the day in our campground. Great little pool all to ourselves here. Just have to watch for rattlers when wandering around ...

In walking back to the bus we discovered a concert going on in the park and stayed to listen and enjoy before it was time to board the bus and make the return trip to the hotel.

We were warming welcomed and the lady at the desk was very nice. I inquired about a balcony room and she checked to see if they had one available, and they did. They gave us directions to a wonderful restaurant called Duke's Steakhouse, where we had the best steak.
Room was huge, clean and I would stay here again in a heartbeat as you couldn't beat the price. Really nice place!
