We paid 1000RMB each for a private tour to Kaiping with a driver and guide. This was a lot of money, but well worth the money. The Diaolou are multi-storeyed defensive vilage houses in Kaiping, a region of Guangzhou. They were very popular from the early Qing Dynasty to the 1920s and 1930s and were built by overseas-Chinese who came back to China to build houses for their relatives ...

We then went to find an Indian Restaurant. Unfortunately the one the Westin Hotel Conciage recommended was closed for the Spring Festival, but we were directed to another one, Taste of India, which was excellent, wonderful samosas and succulent chicken korma and chicken tikka.

... with a little park by the river. We had lunch in a the delightful "Orient Express" French Restaurant where the staff were lovely and helpful. Two old carriages have been made into dining cars. Weather permitting we plan to return for an evening meal during our stay.

This was my first EF Annual party, as I was away last year.

We had dinner at a fancy restaurant, and the theme was golden 50, as EF is 50 this year.

Our school did a video which we all featured in -it was very well received! Here is teh link if you want to watch it.
