Crossing Back Over the Pond

One day three countries... We started off the day in Paris, ordering a crepe to share... we thought it was delicious until we reached the middle and found a raw egg stting inside it...need to learn to read French! We went back to our hotel grabbed our bags and headed for the Paris Nord train station. We took the Chunnel back to Paris (I thought it would be mostly through a tunnel) our 2.5 hour trip took us through allot of farmland and we were only under water for around 20 minutes! We didn't...

Historical Traveler Reviews of Grand Hyatt Hotel New York City

This Hotel Is A 4Star Disappointment!

from Prine041745
Location is great, lobby is some what impressive! after that it is down hill all the way. The hotel is unbelieveably noisy as the rooms were filled with rowdy teens. Breakfast was fair at best and terribly over priced. Hotel services are very lax. Do your self a favor a book a room elsewhere.

I expect more for my money

I just came from NYC 2 days ago and the Lobby & the ballrooms were exquisite, but rooms are a little bit too small. On the 26th floor, rooms are smaller than on the 25th floor. It's not fair b/c on the 25th floor, they have lazy boy chairs and the bathroom is larger and the room is larger..Let's put it in other words.. Everything is bigger.I think i got ripped off there but at least everything is around especially the Chrysler Building is right next door and the Grand Central Terminal is also right next door.NYC is the best.

Would not reccomend it to anyone

This hotel was one of the worst I have stayed in. For the price that I was paying I expected much more than a phone, light and outlet that didn't work in the room. No hairdryer or coffee maker. Unresponsive and at times rude staff. There was a fire the night I stayed there and the way that was handled was absolutely unbelieveable. You can't even hear the fire alarms from your room. I would never stay in this hotel again and not recommend it to anyone.

Lobby gives false impression.

This hotel stinks the big one. Wow, what a false impression you'll get from the lobby -- looks like a 4 star establishment all right! That all ends when you exit the elevator onto the room floors. The hallways are dark and look dingy. Go into your room and find the same thing! My bathroom had torn wallpaper, water stains everywhere, and mold growing. Someone please do some room remodeling!

Grand Hyatt? Not quite Grand!

from A TripAdvisor Member
This property while centrally located ie: In Grand Central Station, Close to Many Subway Lines, the M104 Bus to Broadway and Uptown (Central Park). Has got to be the worst property I have stayed in while in Manhattan. The walls are paper thin, the sheets are stained, the rooms small, amenities that don't work. Slow Engineering Service (the room was boiling hot and I needed air!), Hotel Staff that truly could care less about your stay. Housekeeping that truly hasn't figured out what HOUSEKEEPING means. I found the NYC Grand Hyatt not Grand in any way shape or form. I have never seen a Hyatt property run as this one is. The saving factor if you want to call it that is that the Lobby is huge with plenty of spaces to sit comfortably and even have a small business meeting or just meeting friends. Otherwise, look elsewhere. I will never stay there again.

Find another hotel

When you pull up, the hotel is very impressive. The lobby looks great. The Greatness stops there. The bar food is terrible and the room service is worse than eating at Denny's. The rooms are in need of being remodeled. The floors had stains, the doors were filthy and the bathrooms had mold all over the tile. I would literly compare the rooms to a Motel 6. They are in no way near the standards of a Hyatt Hotel. FIND ANOTHER HOTEL TO STAY AT!!!!!!!

I had a wonderful experience with 100 of my friends in Feb 2001

I stayed at the Hyatt with The Metropolitan Detorit Chorale from Michigan , Feb 2002 andt sang at Carnagie Hall. Everything was great! I am returning May 2003 to sing at Carnagie again and am looking forward to my stay at the Grand Hyatt.

Not advisable

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt for three nights last week from the 9/12/02, and found the staff unhelpful, forgetful and uncoordinated and the rooms dirty. It took a day to fix the cold water tap and two lights in the bathroom, they lost a fax then found it hours later, there was extensive building work in the lobby. There was no hairdryer in the room the plug sockets were dangerous. I could go on, and I won't be advising anyone to stay there, particulary in relation to price.

Yes, stayed here briefly with my daughter on a world trip.

Impressive lobby, impressive setting ! Room was larger than expected and well-appointed with roomy bathroom and additional seating area.

Close enough to all the things we wanted to see, staff rather helpful with suggestions, too.

Although this was booked as an early morning arrival, room was not ready, so jet-lag took it's toll as we lolled in the garden cafe.

Eventually I will write about my stay here, and link it from my travel pages.

Disappointed

from A TripAdvisor Member
Disppointing.

I expected more from a Hyatt hotel.

My room was small, no hairdryer, no coffeemaker.

The bedside lamp was broken; I called 3 times to get it fixed. No one came to fix it. I left a message for the manager to complain. Never heard anything about it. I stayed 3 nights.

They advertised a swimming pool. There is no pool on the premises. They told me there is a pool somewhere around the corner which you can use for the normal fee. In other words: no pool and false information.

I would not go there again.
