When I first booked my flight, Qatar airways had only just released their direct to Edinburgh flight (you don't have to go through Heathrow to get to Scotland).

By all accounts, Doha is a baby Dubai.

The airport is huge and mostly empty at the moment, but as more people start flying through Qatar, it will handle the masses.

... I think and so on to the narrative about a trip which has already proved to be interesting to say the least. A dear friend of mine constantly informs me that I don't go on holidays or trips, I have adventures. Another dear friend is fond of repeating a phrase I use about my travelling which is "it could only happen to me"! In the mere six days I have been here in Sri Lanka, both statements have been proved to be completely ...

... Heaven! We came to the restaurant twice.

LOCATION: It is located in the Katara, Valley of Culture close to the amazing amphitheater.

INTERIOR: The colorful and noble Oriental style creates a feast to the eyes and travels you. The authentic Indian culture is kept in the interior which features exquisite luxury. I found it elegant and stylish with a relaxed and comfortable ambience. Your journey to India starts the moment ...

... am back in England with Karen trying on 100 dresses but going back and buying the first one! All in all though we have enjoyed Doha more than Dubai. Albeit brief, it was nice to see a different side to the place and perhaps being in a less salubrious part helped that. 'This is what I came for Karen to see this stuff and be Suffolk's Michael Palin..' 'You're an idiot' she says... 'Idiot abroad' she laughs at her own joke. Not a bad one to be fair. Next stop Beijing...! ...

    Meet Xavier the Zombie!

He's a homemade felted doll who will be my companion while I'm away. The aim is for Xavier the Zombie to represent my trip; every time I go to a new destination I will add a badge to him from that location and take photos of him in popular tourist locations... this is going to be one well traveled doll!

I wrote this post at the international airport in Doha waiting for my connecting flight but wasn't able to post it until now
