... couple of observations - very few animals, quite a lot of pigeons, and for all the humans here, very little litter. Returning to our accommodation it still took us a couple of attempts to find the lane that the hotel is in. It's common to see tourists referring to their maps here, we can see why. We unpacked, set up our room, did hand washing, updated the blog, and prepared to go out about 7.30pm for dinner and another look around. Night time orientation should ...

... been glad I already had tickets in hand). We buzzed through all the rooms, stopping first to see their gondola, which had the tented middle that we learned about on our class that the wealthy used in the past for privacy. We saw the armory, which was mildly exciting for the boys, lots of swords, guns, etc... Since we had a late lunch, we had a really late dinner. Most restaurants were closed by 9 pm. We were not happy about that. I tried their ...

... old factories. As I turned left onto The Fondamenta Zattere to follow the waters edge, I checked out the many restaurants along the front. Reasonable in price and with outside seating looking out across the straight. Now it was time to head back, crossing the wooden Accademia bridge, always a great place for a photo of the end of the Grand Canal and Santa Maria Della Salute. I got a fellow tourist to take a quick shot of me with this wonderful view, one ...

... We were doubly excited as we'd decided to spend the night in a hotel as a bit of a treat.

As soon as we'd stepped off the bus we decided to have a beer in this lovely little square. Once we'd finished we walked through all of the little alleyways, making our way slowly to the hotel we had booked. Venice was ok. It was all a bit fake though and so very touristy. Every voice you heard was either American or English. You could quite easily ...
