    ... devoid of cars, busses, scooters, beggars, and those bloody annoying street venders all trying to sell you the same **** by laying it all over the footpath where you are trying to walk..... None of it.... It's great! You can safely walk around in amazement at the city built on timber poles in 2-3 metres of water. It's truly amazing! 422 bridges. 126 Catholic Churches .     ... were back on time, some Spanish tourists had got lost), we were off to the Academia Galley to see the sculptured works of Michaelangelo. There were 5 partially finished items called the Slaves before you walked down a little further to see the statue of David. David is a tall statues which you don't fully appreciate until you're there. 4 metres high all up which makes for an imposing sight.     ... This cut our walk back considerably. Only 2 E per person up from 50 cents/person 2 years ago.

    Venice is very expensive.. The taxi from the airport is 110E plus more for more than 4 pieces of luggage. Also Venice now has a city tax of 2E per person per night. Small bottle of diet coke runs anywhere from 2E to 4.60E per bottle. But it is still a lovely city.
