... which is a very small fishing village with only 40 permanent inhabitants. There are some restaurants on the island but no hotels. If you make a reservation at a restaurant they send a boat to pick you up and then take you back when you’re finished with dinner. Everything here closes during the winter because there are no tourists since it gets very cold and often snows. Next we disembark at Isola Bella (Beautiful ...

Yesterday left Positano. We took a shuttle to Salerno then picked up a car from Avis. The coast road from Positano to Salerno was truly breathtaking and the driver quite friendly and tried to explain a few sights along the way. Headed south and stopped at some Greek ruins in Paestrum which dated back to BC. Weather a little cold and rainy or we probably would have stayed longer. Took the scenic root to Marina di Camerota. Stopped at Bascillicata and had a late lunch at a little pizzeria. ...

... knuckles up to see the Cristo statue above us and through the village of Maratea. The feat of building this thing where it is blows the mind and converts one's legs to jelly. I have great respect for Italian engineers - not so the kamikaze drivers.
On our drive to Sorrento we called in to Paestrum to view what remains of a 6th century Greek town with forum and agora in pretty good condition. We are in Sorrento ...
