... there was room for everyone. The costumes and the sets were very striking and colourful all except one scene where they had tried to paint some mountains but these were not very realistic at all and Leigh could have done a much better job!

We stayed the night in a little apartment that Barbara had booked through airbnb. It’s best selling point was that it was within easy walking distance of the amphitheatre as it was quite stuffy and cramped but the ...

We have breakfast on the Terrace that provides us with a great view of Lake Como, the sun is shining, a family of swans are swimming past. The breakfast spread is good, coffee is good, ah Bellagio it is everything we expected. As the shops are not open we decide on a walk around to Punta Spartivento or Point where the Wind divides, or to you the Point of the Peninsular. It provides great views to both sides of Lake Como to Varenna to the East and Managgio to the West.

... and so the train makes a quick stop then moves off leaving six of us stranded in the carriage thinking what do we do now. The next stop is Bellamo just a few KM's down the line and the Poms had moved to another carriage in shame. That leaves us and the all American young couple. We have no trouble getting the door open and get off. We seek options on how to get back to Varenna from the station attendant. Take the next train going back, no it ...

It's not far she said. It will have a lovely lake view she said. It will be relaxing she said.

It’s ten in the morning and we are checking out from our hotel. Our new best friend Mirko is smiling and talking about our next destination. "Ahh – Varenna. It is lovely si? I wisha to go there myself some a day."

Step one – Venice to Milano by train. We bought our tickets yesterday and ...
