    ... let's move on to St Marcos cathedral...here's a shining example of Christianity being built on firm foundations of greed, decadence and oppression. Absolutely awe inspiringly grotesque. Each section has a vast mosaic depicting some scene of misery or angst.     Today was a pack up and quiet day. There was a monster thunder storm overnight and the rain was steady until mid-late morning. We decided to try and see what Raffa was like, it looked interesting from the road that we have frequently used on our way south around the lake.     ... next to a lovely British lady and had a good chat. The
    atmosphere was electric and the setting sublime. Eventually the opera started
    and it was such a spectacular. Four acts, 3x 20 mins intervals, a cast over 150
    people which included singers, dancers, children and horses and donkeys on
    stage. The orchestra and the maestro included about another 100 musicians –
    Wow! The stage setting in the arena was the best stage setting ...
