Well we survived our first night at La Perla by layering myself with some of Michaels shirts to keep warm but I'm not sure if we will survive the sugar laden breakfast that is served. A full trestle table of cakes awaits us! The sun is shining and the temperature is slightly cooler today.Phew! Is what we all say. Michael, Silvana, Rosanna, Steve and myself walk down to a nearby bar to have a decent espresso coffee then wandering off to explore Tropea. Michael and I have ...
Today Armando and Denise fly home while our group of now 9 drive to Tropea for some more sea and sun. We are 3 cars following each other and the drive down on the motorway is ok. I say ok because we all find the speed and overtaking stressful on the higher than heaven roads and bridges! One can almost get altitude sickness! We eventually made it back to the room and prepared for our formal dinner night. We ended up sitting with an 80 year old couple (both teachers) for England and had a fantastic conversation! Score one for the geriatric ...
... largest island in the Mediterranean Sea but is still part of Italy. We opted to hire a private car with driver for the day to take us to Mount Etna and then to the pretty village of Tormina. Mt Etna is Europe's highest active volcano with the last summit eruption occurring in 2012. Whilst we didn't opt to take the lift to the summit, we did manage to get up to about 2200m which was still only two ...
