    Today we leave Amalfi and head to Venice for the last stretch of our holiday. Because the ferry is not running, we need to catch the 8:00 am from Amalfi to Salerno - 1 1/4 hours. Then the train from Salerno to Roma. Next the train from Roma to Venice (via Firenze, Bologna, Padova and Venezia Mestre). We are lucky that we are able to catch the fast trains as this makes it only a 6 3/4 hour trip on the train. Then we need to get from Venezia Santa Lucia station to our hotel. ...

    ... the kids home and make very one have a nap. We were invited to Franka Ville for dinner with Paul's Zia Nicoletta and Zio Marino, plus Claudia, Giuseppe and their kids, and to not have a repeat of the other nights dinner, where we had three very tired teary kids we thought this would be good. Well it worked well for Nicolas and Luca, but Brodie woke up extremely grumpy and still ended up in tears when we were at dinner!!! However ...

    ... was a lady playing a harp and there were some lovely speeches, including one from Nicolas of course. It was a great relaxing afternoon and many of Paul's Aunty's, Uncles and cousins came. We had a treasure hunt at the end, one for the adults and one for the kids.     ... a fantastic light lunch and more really good wine and coffee. The kids had a great time running around throwing leaves (and sometimes rocks) and playing. We went home for a quiet afternoon and rest. For dinner we were invited to Guido and Teresa's house with Claudia, Giuseppe and their kids, plus 4 of Paul's other cousins.
