    ... on the subway you kinda pretend that the people next to you are not there with no one saying hello or chatting. You have to be quite quiet and just sit still there is no running around and playing beach cricket like we do in New Zealand. About an hour was enough for us and we were off on our travels.     ... sort of a question from the expectant way she (and the rest of the group) were looking at me. The jig was up, so I had to say 'sorry, but I really don't speak any Italian', which gave everyone a good laugh. She apologised and went back through the safety briefing in English, which included 'don't hang back to take photos as it is very easy to get lost'. The rest of the tour she explained a few bits and pieces in English to us, which was really nice of her.
