... on the subway you kinda pretend that the people next to you are not there with no one saying hello or chatting. You have to be quite quiet and just sit still there is no running around and playing beach cricket like we do in New Zealand. About an hour was enough for us and we were off on our travels. When we got to Ancona we checked onto the big car ferry. It is a much bigger boat than the Inter Island ferry in New Zealand and more like ...

... century villa in the middle of the Tuscan countryside, fresh croissants and coffee for breakfast, a lovely German Shepherd named Margo who sleeps at the front door and walks us to the gate when we leave and arrive and lovely hosts, an elderly couple Bruno and Fiamennta who are 5th generation owners of the property.

... our dinner place, which we had walked past earlier in the day. We couldn't read a thing on the menu, and were trying to use Google for a bit to help us out before our waiter came by and spoke, as he said, 'a little English', but was of course more than enough to hold a conversation. We told him we just wanted some pasta with fresh seafood and he brought us exactly what we had in mind. We had tagliatelle with prawns, mussels, squid and a langoustine (which seemed to be an Italian ...

... nap to top up the energy levels. It was nice to have a much needed shower and freshen up too.

We went in search of food again and found a lovely little 'hole-in-the-wall' restaurant where we had a salumi platter, pasta and wine before heading out for a walk and getting a gelati for dessert. We toasted Spirit and reminisced about her funny habits like barking at waves or getting upset if she thought Will was attacking me. RIP you funny girl xo
