Woke up early due to the sunlight beaming through the scant curtains in the bedroom.

We had the fan running all night and it looks like we are in for another 30+ day. Terrific.

We have decided to take the Lake Maggiore Express going first by Regional Train to Domodossola and then taking the scenic train to Locarno Switzerland.

... and earth tones in moralizing subject matter, using animals and birds to depict anger, goodness, and even sexual behavior.

Lunch was on Untours. We stepped out of the castle onto a sunny, breezy grotto under a grape arbor with a view of two more castles! The three ladies ordered roasted chicken in a mild curry sauce. And then, when all seemed hopeless, I spot the markings of the trail Splugenpass trail in between the houses... Yep, it's for real this time... I cross an arch stone bridge, pass a couple of other hikers that confirm, yes, this is the right way and then plunge into the forest once ...

Day 274 4 hrs, 3 kms Chiavenna is my Gateway to the High Alps--from here I go from following low altitude relatively flat valleys with snow--if visible--very far away... to a steady steep climb up over formidable passes that throughout out much of history were a daunting challenge for travellers and traders. Chiavenna is a also my first full city in several days, and after just wandering past quiet little villages it feels great to be ...
