Historical Traveler Reviews Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva
We have just returned from a conference- weekend at the Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva. The hotel is magnificent and we have never experienced such incredible service before. The food at the bar as well at the main restaurant with an unforgettable view over the lake of Geneva - you will never find that anywhere else in Geneva. At the nights - the bar is the Place to be and meet!
The Room had a very good size, bathroom nearly new, the beds are quiet big and the services at the reception and housekeeping are outstanding.
We will hopefully come back with our company to hold another meeting cause the ratio of services and prices are very good and our secretary had also good experience with the banqueting-staff.
Great Views from the Restaurant
I stayed in the Kempinski Hotel Geneva during a conference. The hotel is perfectly located and I got one of the recently renovated rooms. The restaurant has great views over the lake. The bar seems to be very popular as it was full to the rim.
I recently stayed a week at the new Kempinski in Geneva. The hotel is mostly renovated, though not completely different from when it was the Noga Hilton a little more than a year ago. Gone mostly are the day glo plastic walls and other dated items in favor of earth tones etc. Most notably of all the renovations are the second floor restaurants and terraces, which form some of the finest vistas to have a meal or drink in all of Geneva. The pool and spa are only ok , but the rooms are very nice esp the plasma tvs and Hansgrohe fixtures in the bathrooms. The service in the hotel is also top notch -- esp the concierge who will book tours, loan adaptor plugs, or provide an umbrella all for no additional charge. The hotel is located right on Lake Leman (Lake Geneva) and there is a swimming and boat rental location directly across the street. Based on location, service, and cleanliness and quality of finishes, I would rate this hotel well above average as a business hotel, though not on par with a Ritz or Four Seasons. Any discount off the $500 or so summer rack rate and you've found a good deal!
My fiance and me stayed at the hotel in July for the week-end and we loved it! We stayed in one of the rooms with view overlooking the lake which was modern and elegant at the same time. As we had great weather, we took the breakfast on the terrace of the restaurant which has this same perfect view and the buffet had a large choice of fresh breads and swiss specialities.
The renovations are nealy finished. Some of the outlets were still closed and some details will need to get done but I'm definetely going to stay there again when returning to Geneva!
The Hilton is now a Kempinski, but only the name has changed...
I have stayed in this hotel several times over the last 4 years. Originally called the Noga Hilton, then Palace Hilton or something like that and now finally changed owner to become a Kempinski.
Having returned the first time after the 'extensive renovation' I expected to finally find a hotel that is in line with a 5-Star standard. First impression was good, the lobby, the restaurants, hallway etc. are all new and shiny and luxurious.
BUT: The rooms (most of them?) are still the same. I understand that some floors have been 'updated' but the one I stayed on (4th floor - the 'brown' one) is still as it used to be. Horrible and worn off seventies style with color schemes developed by the blind, not to mention the smelling carpet....
The only thing that has changed in the room is a big flat screen TV which is a nice to have but I would have preferred a bathroom with light that doesn't upset my stomach in the morning...
In a nutshell: NEVER AGAIN
A shame because the location is still great and the potential is there...
Loved it. Very nicely renovated
My wife and I spent a weekend at the Kempinski in March and it was just fantastic. We got a room with views to the lake, and it was just great to see the jet d'eau from our bed. We had breakfast in the room both mornings looking at the lake.
As the hotel was still undergoing renovation not all services were availble, but we didn't miss anything but the pool.
The room was spotless clean and nicely decorated, the bathroom was great, with really nice toiletries, and as I already mentioned, the view was fantastic.
Having stayed here several times already as a Hilton, I must say the hotel has extremely improved its image, and service continues to be of the highest standards.
I will continue to stay at the Kempinski on my trips to Geneva, and I would defenetely recommend it to everyone.

... hours and forty-five minutes of it, with a nap in between. As we started our descent into Geneva, I pulled open the window shade and looked out at the snow-speckled ground. It didn't look like much at first, but as we got lower and closer to the city, these mountains grew out of nowhere! Geneva is surrounded by the Alps and the Jura. They are so huge and looked as if snow were perfectly painted on. I tried to get some pictures, but ...
... happy polite well adjusted little people. However there is moments of reality....granddad says that this holiday is costing him £1 a minute, plus miscellaneous expenses (£3000) so the family will enjoy themselves. And that's the reality, in a months time our Chalet will cost the occupants £2 a minute, to stay for a week. Yep £120 per hour. Work it out 2 x 60 x 24 x 7. GBP! Its a serious cheque book.
So what do we do.....wake at 6am, coffee, shower etc and ...
... rusty, especially with my listening/comprehension skills - everyone speaks so quickly! - but I've been able to make myself understood all day, at grocery stores and patisseries and train stations alike. I'm looking forward to improving, and especially to my ears catching up with my mouth.
Tomorrow begins orientation, so I'll be visiting the campus (about thirty minutes away from the dorms, just outside the city) for the first time ...
... cold. My face & fingers were hurting. But the scenery was spectacular..views of Mt Blanc & surrounding mountains. Took every possible viewing platform I could..like a pig in mud!!! Photos don't do it justice..it was awesome!!! Camera stopped working a couple of times..had to put it in my jacket to warm it up. Eventually relented and went back down the mountain to Chamonix...a winter wonderland with snow ...
... was definitely a huge success, and a trip I will never forget. It made me realize how much I truly do love to travel and explore other cultures, even if it's in a short time. I cannot wait to book more flights!!! Leaving Copenhagen also made me realize how much I love it here, and how comfortable we already are. Using public transportation is already second nature, whereas at home it ...
