... third round and heavier rain saw us take refuge in The Club, for a platter lunch that stretched until the rain stopped. Further round we realised that it was a bit of an exaggeration to say that most of the route was on a bike path. About 5 kms directly beside Annecy was patched, the rest is shared with the road traffic and there was a lot of it. Made us a little nervous when the b-double tucks passed and we had no helmets on!!!!!! Had me peddling pretty fast at times, but ...
Got up and had breakfast in hotel. Bread toast orange coffee. Lovely breakfast. Drove through beautiful mountains to Grenoble and then onto Annecy. Got hotel Best Western. Lovely room. Bought milk in Spar and food in garage. . Went for walk to old town. Had creeps. Cold Walked and sat by lake. Back to hotel. Lovely ...
... nature, and of the renaissance architecture. Then we were seated at a simple very small table, with red and white check tablecloth and inexpensive plain tableware. The tables were set side by side with about 10cms between each one. Luc just smiled and shrugged as people worked there way into seats. Not a place for the oversized. Next he came with a hand written menu and sat down beside us to take our order. With lots of entertaining gestures, like, oink oink, pulling at his ...
... they have is that we were given a free travel card when we checked into the hotel. This enabled free and unlimited use of the buses, trams and water taxis around the city. We had a spot of lunch in a pasta restaurant in the old town and made our way back to pick up the laundry and visit the local bike shop to pick up supplies. Dinner tonight was in the same restaurant as ...
Hello everyone, We know its been a long time since our last entry and we are sorry. Things have been happening so quickly we haven't had a chance to write about them. We left Aosta very happy that we visited. It was breathtaking and definitely one of our unexpected discoveries that we will not soon forget. It was a little difficult to make our way out of Aosta and into Geneva, our next stop. Though they were relatively close to each other, no train went ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva
We have just returned from a conference- weekend at the Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva. The hotel is magnificent and we have never experienced such incredible service before. The food at the bar as well at the main restaurant with an unforgettable view over the lake of Geneva - you will never find that anywhere else in Geneva. At the nights - the bar is the Place to be and meet!
The Room had a very good size, bathroom nearly new, the beds are quiet big and the services at the reception and housekeeping are outstanding.
We will hopefully come back with our company to hold another meeting cause the ratio of services and prices are very good and our secretary had also good experience with the banqueting-staff.
Great Views from the Restaurant
I stayed in the Kempinski Hotel Geneva during a conference. The hotel is perfectly located and I got one of the recently renovated rooms. The restaurant has great views over the lake. The bar seems to be very popular as it was full to the rim.
I recently stayed a week at the new Kempinski in Geneva. The hotel is mostly renovated, though not completely different from when it was the Noga Hilton a little more than a year ago. Gone mostly are the day glo plastic walls and other dated items in favor of earth tones etc. Most notably of all the renovations are the second floor restaurants and terraces, which form some of the finest vistas to have a meal or drink in all of Geneva. The pool and spa are only ok , but the rooms are very nice esp the plasma tvs and Hansgrohe fixtures in the bathrooms. The service in the hotel is also top notch -- esp the concierge who will book tours, loan adaptor plugs, or provide an umbrella all for no additional charge. The hotel is located right on Lake Leman (Lake Geneva) and there is a swimming and boat rental location directly across the street. Based on location, service, and cleanliness and quality of finishes, I would rate this hotel well above average as a business hotel, though not on par with a Ritz or Four Seasons. Any discount off the $500 or so summer rack rate and you've found a good deal!
My fiance and me stayed at the hotel in July for the week-end and we loved it! We stayed in one of the rooms with view overlooking the lake which was modern and elegant at the same time. As we had great weather, we took the breakfast on the terrace of the restaurant which has this same perfect view and the buffet had a large choice of fresh breads and swiss specialities.
The renovations are nealy finished. Some of the outlets were still closed and some details will need to get done but I'm definetely going to stay there again when returning to Geneva!
I have stayed in this hotel several times over the last 4 years. Originally called the Noga Hilton, then Palace Hilton or something like that and now finally changed owner to become a Kempinski.
My wife and I spent a weekend at the Kempinski in March and it was just fantastic. We got a room with views to the lake, and it was just great to see the jet d'eau from our bed. We had breakfast in the room both mornings looking at the lake.
