... Neither could we. Phoned for help. Mattia gave us some instructions, then showed up to take us to the house. Its a good job, as even with our subsequent knowledge neither of us would have been able to find it.

... to visit compared to its overcrowded neighbours in Tuscany. We spend about 5 hours in Lucca, taking our time to walk around the promenade of the wall and getting lost at some point. We left for florence at 7pm and the train ride takes slightly more than an hour. Back in florence, we had McDonald's for dinner which we had some discount coupons for some set meals. ... Im getting yelled at if I miss a hairpin turn uphill...one of millions I gunned in first gear. Next, we checked out San Gimignano and Pisa, then Lucca. Checking out the mideival towers in San Gimignano, can see where the architect who designed the twin towers got his ideas. All I can say is that if youve seen one medieval village thats been turned into a shopping mall...youve seen em all. But you still have to take those photos! In Italy...old is good!! We had a quick breakfast in Vernazza - Italian styles - it is cheaper to stand at the bar and have your food and drink than take a seat. In Italy this is how a lot of people have their morning espresso. As we were walking out, Ben stated 'we are such expats'.

... attended a concert in the botanical gardens. For the price of admission (3 Euros or about $4), I heard a trio (piano, violin and cornet) playing Mozart and Brahms. Once again I felt the spirit of my Dad very close. This morning I climbed to the top of the Torre Guinigi, one of the surviving medieval towers.
