... blocks away at the Piazza Carmine. They returned, without incident, laden with provisions that should keep us well-fed until we depart for Florence at the end of the week!

All in all, a great day, with clear blue skies and cool temperatures making for ideal walking conditions. Although it is dropping into the upper-40s overnight, by mid-afternoon it reaches the mid-60s, so it's still coat and scarf weather at the moment.

... the harbour – when we open the window, we can hear the water lapping beneath the little fishing boats. The village is busy during the day, with trekkers and day trippers, but at night and early in the morning, it's lovely and quiet. We rather like it here! The locals are very friendly and we think it's the prettiest of the five villages.

... lunch. Bianca refuses to sit near me as I eat my tripe - the specialty of the area. It is still raining lightly. It clears again as the sun comes out but the crew (apart from me) are done and dusted for the day.
