... but a bit bigger. Part way along is the Magere Bridge, or the skinny bridge as the locals call it. There is a story it was built by two rich sisters in 1691 who lived on either side of the river and were either too busy or unable to walk the long way round to visit each other so built a bridge across the river, but did not make it the usual width for general use. It is all lit up at night and we did go back to see it after dinner as it is very close to where ...

So we opted to go back to our hotel, pick up our laundry from a laundromat (they wash, dry and fold your clothing for $22AUD) we found, browse the shopping mall and then try to find a nail bar to remove my shellac nail polish. ... in the lovely bit of country land on a river. I stopped at the cheese factory and sampled about 20 kinds of cheeses, I watched a demo on making wooden clogs, and hiked past the windmills. I bought some very addictive stroopwaffels - buttery wafers with caramel in the middle. After returning to Amsterdam, I checked in a chatted with one of my ...

... 10 minute tram ride from the absolute centre. We headed straight off and into the centre, fabulous city, not as crazy as I imagined, and quite orderly like Germany, maybe in the evening later at night it becomes full on. We walked a fair way taking in the main city centre, decided it would be good to jump on one of the canal boats, and see some of the hundreds of canals! There are in fact over 2000 houseboats and 150 canals ...
