    First Day Cruising the Fjords

    ... places for short photo breaks, took 2 ferry rides (the bus got on the ferry), eventually dropping us off for dinner in a hotel in Molde around 8pm.

    After dropping us off at Geiranger, our ship sailed back along the same route so the people on the ship enjoyed seeing both sides of the fjord. It went back to Alesund around 6pm, the continued on and met us in Molde at around 9:45pm.

    ... etc. By the way Valldal is the center in Norway where they grow most of the local strawberries, so we bought some of the berries along the road from a small stall and they were really delicious. Very tasteful, not watery like you most often find them in Belgium, but deep red and very tasteful.

    After that we drove on to Molde including one short ferry to get there, where we have our airbnb room just outside ...

    Finally its time to turn up North and head over the mountain pass road no63. Looking at this road on the maps and internet it sure looked good but as it was I was to get more than I had ever expected.

    As I head up this pass there are signs saying that one must have snow tyres fitted etc and looking ahead there sure was plenty of snow.

    ... He was a very happy winner to say the least.

    Dinner is more formal affair when most of the guests dress up in their best suit or dress for the meal. Tonight we shared a traditional meal of sheep ribs. These ribs come dried and salted. There is a whole day cooking process of re-hydrating the meat, and then steaming the ribs before they spend 5 mins in the oven before serving. They are rather salty of course, but very tasty. ...

    ... where there was a ferry waiting to take us on a cruise through the fjord, passing the beautiful waterfalls. The views were crazy, unfortunately it was raining 12oC and I was in thongs as my sneakers had developed holes in the base and just absorbed water.

    We headed back to Trolls Pass where we took more cool photo’s and on the way I managed to quickly buy some shoes for 499 NOK (totally worth it as we will soon be heading to Svatisen ...
