    We have now learnt two things about the weather in this part of Italy- it knows how to be hot and it knows how to rain.
    We managed to get under way soon after 08:00. The first part of the ride was on nice quiet roads through lovely countryside up to a little way beyond the lovely hilltop village of San Gimignano. We had an elevenses stop of spinach tortillas at San Gimignano.

    ... would see all the way to the last town of Montorosso. It was an unbelievable view. The fist part of the hike, which was from Riomaggiore to Manarola was the shortest distance, and the easiest. It was a walk along the coast, but from up above the water, so you could look down and admire the clear blue of the Mediterranean sea. The farther we got, the more the scenery took my breath away.
