... beauty for this prairie girl to handle! After we made our way back to the hostel, we took a little "nap" and accidentally woke up around ten that night, with just enough time and energy to slip into our pajamas and go back to bed for the rest of the night! The next morning we woke up bright and early on a mission! Hiking Cinque Terre, which is a string of five little towns that are built along the Italian Riviera! ... parmesan in Italy, Vary told us, was absolutely delicious. The ham was lovely too - it is quite different from what we get at home. She offered us some marmalade to eat with this first course - seemed a little odd but the two types- pear and honey, and fig- were exquisite!!!

Then we learned how to make tiramasu, and then the ravioli. We then got to eat dinner, with the main course being a chicken dish - mine wtih tomatoes, carrots and ...

... the Royal Palace but the highlight was a tour of a cheese cooperative. This is where the original parmigiano regione (NOT parmesan), is produced. The factory we visited was pretty much unmechanized. It was a cooperative, using the milk from cows of the 12 farms in the cooperative. The process actually begins with how and what the cows are fed (no sileage). Each farm has its own vat and the curd, whey and cheese are stirred and separated by hand. ...

... another 6 months…

Today was also house cleaning day and we went through it top to bottom …and because the temperature was kinda cool we could open up all the windows and let Brunella really breathe for the whole day. After washing sheets, scrubbing bathrooms and polishing floors …Brunella was looking like she did on the first day we were here. ‘Sparkling’!!!

Mary then got busy on the emails touching bases with all and sundry ...

2nd week of 'Living the Dream'

... fortress Brunella – the Saturday Market – and the Abbey of Saint Caprasia. We also knew we had to have lunch at the Ristorante Pasquino and try the Pa****cci (flat breads originating from here).

We walked down the river to the town centre …we walked through the market and I bought some fried Polenta to eat on the way… we then walked towards the fortress to get there before the midday tour but it was all too hard to get there so we dismissed ...
