... br> One scenic stop along the way - Miramare Castle in Italy along the coast...where of course many artists reside. Pretty castle, nice gardens. 30min chance to stretch the legs, take photos. These castles are always perched on the best spots. Lucky we were there in lower season, narrow roads with beaches (rocky) scattered along the way. Apparently in summer you can barely squeeze tour buses though because of all the illegally ...

          ... of people out there.

I was surprised to see just how beautiful Nice is though. I hadn’t heard many good things before I came, but it is a really nice city. The bus dropped me off at the center called Albert 1er, and I had a nice ten minute walk up the main shopping street to find Hostel Baccarat. The hostel is also in a great location, so that helps as well. I checked into my six bed dorm and was the first person in the room, ...

... It was my first visit to a self serve Laundromat and was cheap too which made the 1 kilometre walk well worth it. We came back, repacked our luggage and then took a stroll to the pebble stoned beach where we lazed for a while on the deck chairs looking out over the calm blue water and then decided despite neither of us being hungry, we'd better have lunch. As we waited for our food we were joined by Ron and Katherine. Was nice ...

... cheese monster she is I couldn’t stop her. Once two plates of some sort of potato salad I knew our supper plans were out the window so I opened the flood gates for the kids. They emptied the small platter and the bowl of chips. The waitress explained that serving food while drinking between 6-8pm is a cultural practice. I can’t of course remember what she called it but we sure liked it. We didn’t end up going out for ...

During the evening we took a boat tour on the Seine River where we saw a lot of familiar sites, but were able to hear even more about them through the phone-like translated commentary. Madison took a nice nap during the boat tour so was feeling very energized for the tours on Day 3.

Like I mentioned earlier, we went into the Louvre Museum today. We were able to see the original Mona Lisa, as some other famous art from various eras and locations around ...
