... intelligent and can cross roads safely, not likely. Or South American drivers are careful and considerate, very unlikely. Or they have killed off most of the animals except in the Amazon!
In the distance appears to be a river but when I eventually cross it, it is dried up like all the other rivers I have crossed.
At Catayate there are huge vineyards, it is a major wine area.
Most of the it has ...
... 6 day trip through the northern provinces of Argentina ... Next evening we picked up our Toyota Corolla (that turned out to be a Chevy Corsa). We still had to change a wheel though since the tire since the profile was more or less nonexistant and when we were finally ready the sun already set and we decided to start next day early in the morning since we were warned about animals on the road (and trucks that were driving without light) ...
Termas de Rio Hondo, Northern Argentina, Argentina javierferrinMonday morning we set out for another drive day to Catamarca, which is located in Northwestern Argentina. Really this was only going to be a break in the drive time to Salta. But unfortunately, the Argentina government and the farmers were having a bit of a disagreement with taxes and therefore there were tons of roadblocks set up my the ...
San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca, Argentina vmcelani... herbivores with two big tusks, probably evolution's most comical-looking family of beasts. We also visited the preparation lab where two students were meticulously cleaning rock off of bones, using binocular scopes and sonic microhammers. Our guide called us a cab and we went down to the Plaza 25 de Mayo at the city center. I used to stay near there but had not walked around it this year. Elena and I had a coffee/soda and ...
Catamarca, Argentina magellanic... off in Tucumán for a pee break and to buy sodas and potato chips. Ten minutes after we reboarded we were underway again, cruising through the dark in comfort. After dark, two movies played: "Far and Away" and "What Things Shall Pass". It was the first time I had seen anything other than American B movies on an Argentine bus. Elena watched both but I kept on reading, looking up occasionally to see what was happening. A light dinner was served and I dozed in and ...
Tucuman, cuna de la independencia, Argentina viajando... for the latter and am trying to put it out of my mind. So, Im finally off to Mendoza tomorrow. If it seems nice I may spend a day or two, otherwise Ill just grab the next bus to Santiago, where I will stay in a Sheraton for free (hot bath, hot bath!)and meet up with the couple I met in La Paz. Then its the lake district, and I think I will skip Chiloe and just head South to Patagonia. This is the plan right now. I need ...
Salta, Argentina boomergirlthe site of argentinean independence..... we went to the house of independence to see a light and sound spectatular (really was an exageration) and wandered the pretty city for a night and half a day but in the end we were just too eager to get out into the countryside.....
Tucuman, Argentina salkelely... rieux ici.
