Catamarca

... 6 day trip through the northern provinces of Argentina ... Next evening we picked up our Toyota Corolla (that turned out to be a Chevy Corsa). We still had to change a wheel though since the tire since the profile was more or less nonexistant and when we were finally ready the sun already set and we decided to start next day early in the morning since we were warned about animals on the road (and trucks that were driving without light) ..

Termas de Rio Hondo

... después de haber cenado un buen lechón. We were expecting a wonderful place in the middle of the nature with hot springs and waterfalls and finally we finished in an old camping by a contaminated river but with a couple of hot waters pools from where you can see the starry sky at the time that you enjoy of a Fernet-branca (typical drink of the Argentineans

Termas de Rio Hondo

I spent one day in Termas de Rio Hondo, relaxing in the termal hot springs. I was camping right on the river and the campsite had it's own thermal pools, so it was good. It is funny, The town is on a river but the river is called Rio Dulce not Rio Hondo.

Free Camping.....so not fun....

Monday morning we set out for another drive day to Catamarca, which is located in Northwestern Argentina. Really this was only going to be a break in the drive time to Salta. But unfortunately, the Argentina government and the farmers were having a bit of a disagreement with taxes and therefore there were tons of roadblocks set up my the ...

Day 74: October 27, 2007 San Juan to Catamarca

... but the Herrasauraus and Eoraptor mounts have apparently been moved to out to the new museum at Ischigualasto. Although I was sorry that Elena couldn't see them. I agree that Ischigualasto is where they should be on display. Unfortunately, it is at least 5 hours from San Juan. Eoraptor and Herrerasaurus are the two oldest known dinosaurs found so far. They have an isotopic age of 228 million years. Frenguelisauris is only ...

Day 67: October 20, 2007 Salta to Catamarca

... traffic as we cruised across the city to the bus terminal. Apparently, it was a lazy day everywhere. The Andesmar Bus Line attendant took one look at my online ticket printouts and stamped them telling me to turn them in to the conductor on the bus. It was an efficiency I was unaccustomed to in Argentina. The internet even cuts through momentos argentinos! As usual, the arrival platform was bustling. We bought a couple of cokes for the trip. Our bus pulled in ...

T ······································· ····················· ······································· ····················· · OK, I know many of you will think I am completely crzy, and a part of me wont disagree, but I have just bought another Canon rebel XT body-and yes, it was more $$ here than at ...

the site of argentinean independence..... we went to the house of independence to see a light and sound spectatular (really was an exageration) and wandered the pretty city for a night and half a day but in the end we were just too eager to get out into the countryside.....

Au pays des olives / In the olives' country
