Travel Blogs from Trebic
I travelled to Trebíc in May of 2010 to take part in a drama comenius project. As it was my first one, I was really excited. The comenius project started in the October of 2009 when Czech Republic students came to my secondary school so that we could meet the students we'd be working with when we went over there.
When we first travelled …
... and included a large sitting area, overlooked the town square. I don't know what the tour operator paid, of course, but the advertised rate was 1,750 per night. Well, that would be 1,750 Czech Koruns (Crowns) which are about 20 to the dollar. The town was built in the 1400's and was rebuilt with Italian expertise after a fire in 1530. It has remained unchanged in the last 500 years. With the rain stopped, we hopped on our bikes for a not so grueling ...
... for some kind of scheduled 3 hour maintenance, we were all dressed in our cold weather cycling gear, including the new cycling leggings, and new high tech, long sleeve, compression fit, Nike "Dri-Fit" base layer. Fortunately, today was a day where it was expected that we could shorten the day with an initial van ride to avoid duplicating a 30 km stretch which would have been part of the full 100 km day. We are hoping for a fine day as we've decided to take the boat trip to town - an hour on an electric-powered boat and then a thirty minute tram ride we're told. The alternative is bus and/or ...
Snowing hard and enjoying some very special white Czech wine.
Enjoyed some excellent schnapps last night at a local bar and have been hanging out with local DJs listening to awesome drum and bass vinyl mixing.
Been to too many bars and drank far too much of the local shot (some kind of 40% distilled rice wine - URGHH!!)
Wonderful company and walks around the lovely little city of Oloumouc.
How has this hotel rated in the past?
I absolutely loved staying at the Grand Hotel. It was not too crowded but had a lovely atmosphere. The food served was very nice and the rooms were also really neat and tidy. I only had a few things I would critique such as the being denied being able to rent out things like umberellas when it clearly stated in a leaflet in my room that I could do so. Other than that , I really enjoyed the stay and if I were to visit Trebíc again (Which I hope to do) i'd definately stay here!
