... about cow **** on the street, mangled legged dogs, mangled bodied beggars on scooters, and it does not have much of a mind numbing cacophony of horns, traffic or people. There are people in Europe, for sure. They tend to be fairly quiet and let us travellers go about our business without interruption. Only when we look completely confused will someone come to our rescue and point us in the right direction. They don't want to sell us stuff, or take us ...

... at 3:00 or 4:00pm and nothing in town is open on Sundays, so if you are thinking of ever travelling in Norway keep this in mind. Most of the time skies are over cast here but I managed to capture a few shots of when the weather was nice.

Tønsberg

Left Stavern later than anticipated after having a fight with the tent and packing my bag. Why do things always come out easily but you can never get everything back in. Solution tie my smeller wet trainers on to the side of the rucksack. 1 day of trekking and they really do smell. Anyway arrived in Tønsberg just after mid-day in glorious sunshine. Tønsberg is reported to be the oldest town in Norway built in the ...

... and it associated red coloured church. Very picturique with most houses in this Norwegian town having traditional wooden walls and slate roof. Trying to speak Norwegain but when they realise i am from England they either speak English or ignore me all together. One other note it is expensive to shower here costing 15 Nkr (about £1.30) to have hot water. Got a feeling i better get use to cold water or i am going to stink.

New Year's Eve in Norway

... with a bonfire. We (the Brekkhus', their friends and 3 or 4 other families) went through the woods off the beaten paths and landed on a clearing where the fire was started. Everybody had air rifles and we shot on little paper targets, it was my first time shooting and I actually hit the targets. Then we had hot dogs at the fire and they started to sing some Norwegian songs. On the ...

The World's End

... My sister is really good and I can't wait for the next one. On Sunday we drove an hour and a half away to Tønsberg. My friend from California is living there so we picked her up. We went to Verdens Ende, which means The World's End. It is on the coast and you can only see water, so it seems like you are at the world's end. It was fun. We went fishing. The part on my fishing pole that pulls in the line ...

... for Joe. We had talked about going to a waterfall to watch the salmon jump, but instead we ended up watching a Norwegian animated movie made with stop motion animation about a old Norwegian inventor who ends up in a derby with a car that he built sponsored by an Arabic oil sheik. I wish I could have understood it, but it the animation was so good and there was so much detail to it that I still enjoyed it.

... literacy), I'm 100% clueless with sign at this point. I'm excited about the signs that I was able to pick up (mostly the names of the people that I work with and the residents), but I can't wait to learn more and hopefully get to the point where I can at least attempt to communicate. The residents are really cool. They are all really unique and have different personalities and different abilities. I can tell I'm going to have a lot of fond memories of this place.
