... about cow **** on the street, mangled legged dogs, mangled bodied beggars on scooters, and it does not have much of a mind numbing cacophony of horns, traffic or people. There are people in Europe, for sure. They tend to be fairly quiet and let us travellers go about our business without interruption. Only when we look completely confused will someone come to our rescue and point us in the right direction. They don't want to sell us stuff, or take us ...

Moving to Norway

It was surprisingly mild when we arrived at Gardemoen (airport) on this morning. None of us slept much on the plane. It is always surreal setting down into a new country. Our first plan is to record video for our TV channel, but since we were not allowed to import our equipment we need to buy it all in Oslo. Too tired today. We'll keep you up-to-date. http://www.norwaytraveltv.tv/

... at 3:00 or 4:00pm and nothing in town is open on Sundays, so if you are thinking of ever travelling in Norway keep this in mind. Most of the time skies are over cast here but I managed to capture a few shots of when the weather was nice.

Tønsberg

Left Stavern later than anticipated after having a fight with the tent and packing my bag. Why do things always come out easily but you can never get everything back in. Solution tie my smeller wet trainers on to the side of the rucksack. 1 day of trekking and they really do smell. Anyway arrived in Tønsberg just after mid-day in glorious sunshine. Tønsberg is reported to be the oldest town in Norway built in the ...

Stavern

Landed at Torp Airport on time and made the short bus trip to Larvik, a town famous for Thor Heyerdahl - a scientist and explorer who sold across the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean in reed boats, to prove contact could have occured between the major civilisation in man's early history. The first thing to do on any trip is find the tourist information office and find out what part of the lonely planet is out of date. On this ...

From Trondheim to Vollen

... Bruce Springsteen" (The Boss). He called me Victor and some famous Swedish person whose first name was "Victor." We got on the train to Oslo. This was the busiest train that we've been on. The conductor was a bit chagrined that we did not get reservations and just used our Scanrail pass. He gave us a special place to sit because most of the seats were already reserved. The scenery that I saw at twilight ...

The World's End

... My sister is really good and I can't wait for the next one. On Sunday we drove an hour and a half away to Tønsberg. My friend from California is living there so we picked her up. We went to Verdens Ende, which means The World's End. It is on the coast and you can only see water, so it seems like you are at the world's end. It was fun. We went fishing. The part on my fishing pole that pulls in the line ...

Bike tur

... of walking the bikes up hills and Erlend biking on ahead, then coming back and biking ahead again, we finally made it to our destination. It was another lake and the water was perfect for cooling off. I swam around a bit, but spent most of the time in the water sitting on a large boulder that was half submerged. There was a respectable amount of splashing wars, which is to be expected. On the way ...

I love my job!

... read the credit card that I was given. It was slightly awkward...my first outing by myself in Norway using someone else's credit card, and it doesn't work. Eventually the cashier got it worked out, and I signed a receipt and took my bread, but it was a pretty amusing moment. Another noteworthy moment happened when I got home from work, and found myself naturally thinking in Norwegian. Nothing complicated, mind you, but just the normal "OK, what should I do now?" Hurra!

Om Aktive Fredsreiser
