      South Coast

This coast gives everything, from sand dunes like in Danmark to magma mountains and fjörds like in northern Norway or Iceland.

Next morning we explored the 'Hellene' houses and went for a walk for a fantastic view over the fjörd. For that we had to walk up the mountain and climb 410 wooden stairs. Nonetheless the 10-15min gentle walk make it worth.

      Then we hit the ...

... days or how mentally or physically tired one is. Often another cyclist will comment that a particular section is difficult which you personally find not too bad, while other times, they make the day not seem so bad, whereas you'll find it really strenuous. This was the case for me on our trip to Lygdnal-no-one seemed to mention the very steep pass we had to do before descending down into Lyngdal located at sea level at the end of a fjord! I had to push a lot of the way, as the incline ...

... Chaz indulged himself with 4 day old chicken sandwiches. Lunch of champions. Food in our stomachs we progressed well and actually reached Egersund by 3pm, way ahead of schedule. In terms of climbs, the day was relatively flat until the final hour where suddenly the terrain became a lot more mountainous and challenging. I have a nasty feeling this may be a sign of things to come ...

Denmark to Norway and lots of fiords.

Left Grenen and drove to Hirtshals, to catch the ferry. Stocked up on more food - Norway more expensive than Denmark, we are told. Free WiFi in the library car park outside shop. Smooth crossing, 3 hours, on huge RoRo ferry, our 5th ferry ride and into our 13th country, (some twice.) Denmark is horizontal (flat with a few rolling hills, green and restful). Norway is vertical (except the fiords) and spectacular. We drove from the ferry along the south west coast, ...
