First up this morning was a quick orientation tour of the town of Lucerne, which was really an orientation of where the ladies could shop for clocks, watches and chocolate. We had a quick browse around by foot.
Lucerne is a beautiful, picturesque town filled with quaint cottage style buildings. Innsbruck and Lucerne are our favourite towns by far.
Next was the highlight of the tour – Mount Pilatus.
Souring high above Lucerne, we travel to it...
Today we left Italy for Switzerland.
The trip from Florence to the Swiss border involved 26 tunnels of approximately 10km in length in total, but once over the border, I lost count. One tunnel was 19km long, another 9km in length.
We stopped for lunch at Lugano on the edge of a lovely lake.
But the highlight of the day was travelling through the stunningly green valleys of the Alps, and a one hour cruise around Lake Lucerne.

Here I am, sitting in my tiny little room, in a beautiful wooden chalet looking out onto a snowy landscape. Today is the second day of snow and it's only October. I have been predicting an early winter for weeks now and am rather happy that my predictions have come true.
To glad to be home I recall my recent trip to Ardeche, South of France. As customary for this time of year it was windy and cold. Non the ...
... chair where we could stop and admire the view. Catching the cable car back down to Lauterbrunnen, we saw the waterfall which plunges from the mountain to the valley in the middle of town. We walked up to the town and found a cafe which had pies soup and good coffee. It also had an English book exchange which thrilled Katelyn as it had one of the Twilight books. English books have been few & far between in Europe.

Time to get the car and drive to Buonas! We decide to drive to Lucerne before arriving in Buonas. There's this wooded bridge Andy wanted to see. What a good decision that was. Lucerne was amazingly beautiful and totally worth the extra 30 minutes in the car. We had lunch by the river, and took pics of the bridge before arriving in Buonas.

After connecting through Frankfurt, we finally arrive in Zurich Sunday at 2pm. We decide in an effort to accelerate our acclimation to the time difference that we will push on through the day, and not sleep until at least 10pm that night. We hopped a cab and checked into our hotel. It was originally a restaurant and bar, and recently renovated the top floors to turn it into a hotel. It was modest, super cute, clean and in a great location. What more could you ask for??
Zurich, Zürich, Switzerland avalentino... a guidebook, included: posing with the hairiest cow this side of Europe, sprinting on a race track beside the castle walls, and perusing the gift shops for cow cappuccino cups. We made it back to Baden in fairly good time... despite the Baden traffic jam. The power has been restored in the apartment. And thanks to the Swiss Co-op, Julia was able to present Erin with a brand new hairdryer. I must go now. Tomorrow, will be a long one. I foresee many train rides in our future. Chad
