First time in Napoli. A bit rough, street vendors alongside the station, piles (and unpiled) of rubbish everywhere. Nice hotel though. Too early to check in - the room is definitely not ready. But while the bugs threw themselves on the lounge with eyes half closed, staff came approaching, offering free breakfast. And came back for the second time, as the bugs were still half-lying on the lounge, making sure that the guests got it right: it's downstairs, and it's free. How sweet (the gesture, ...

... area. Well, since I had been told it existed I went in with more confidence. Indeed. It was the LARGEST seating area of any of the pizza contestants. There was a small area next to the kitchen that was off a small entry way -- hidden from the street. Then upstairs there were at least 4 rooms with simple chairs and tables. Just waiting to be the lucky support of some delicious pizza.

I ordered the Buffala pizza. Mozzarella di Buffala (HEY! Does that mean from Buffalo milk ...
Naples, Campania, Italy josiezim... See ya. He immediately came over to me and said, "Wait, wait. If you pay 15euro we can start now." Uh, no. "Okay, okay, c'mon, let's go. We'll get started now." Oh yeah. Look at me working my consumer power.

I'm glad that I opted for the guide. Pompei/ii really is a city. It's not just a little archeological site closed in by a fence, it's a full on city with neighborhoods and roads and everything. But because it's all ruins it ...
Sorrento, Campania, Italy josiezimFrom Rome we headed south to Positano. Once in Sorento we hired a cab to take us the rest away the way, along a very narrow winding road about 150 meters above the sea. For this driver the lines dividing the highway were merely suggestions and blind corners ************cern. The views were spectacular, however the cliff edge road ...
Positano, Campania, Italy sofenjon... advice on where to go in the area. Good location to go north (to Naples and Pompeii) and south to Positano and Almafi (which is a hair raising but spectacular drive). We also took the boat to Capri which is a beautiful island and especially loved the Blue Grotto. First time we ran into some rain and we were at Pompeii for about 2 hours before it started raining .. even ...
Naples, Campania, Italy pathenger... cross and then followed them.

The CitySightseeing buses were a great way to view the city in a short period of time. As the bus navigated around the city streets, we noticed that the car of choice was the smart car. Good thing! I could not imagine driving anything larger in this city! Parking was a premium everywhere! Anywhere you could find enough space the size of a throw rug, you ...
Naples, Campania, Italy ricknelsie... streets with a bazillion other tourists, looking in the windows of all the fancy shops that are way out of our backpacker budget, and saw plenty of photos of the rich and famous in various restaurants (but didn’t see any actual famous people unfortunately…). We caught the bus to Anacapri and walked around there for a bit, and then I caught the chairlift to the very top of Capri (Megg was a chicken!!). We were really lucky and had good weather so the views ...
Naples, Campania, Italy benanna... pickpockets scoping out unaware tourists. And I hopped off the train to be greeted by a man peeing right in the middle of the sidewalk. Nice! It was blazing hot and way humid too. I was sweating before I even made it out the front door. So me and my heavy pack made the 2 mile trek to the hostel, passing a million guys seeling the fake purses along the way. It seems the garbage people have been on strike here too, so the streets are just ...
Naples, Campania, Italy heathertx75... to be careful of gypsies and thieves. Also, because of the garbage crisis in Naples, it is pretty dirty. Throughout the day we went into so many different churches that it would take too long to describe all of them. We started at the Duomo where there is the chapel of San Gennaro, patron saint of Naples, along with his relics. The Neapolitans heavily believe in the supernatural so once a year, the blood of San Gennaro ...
Naples, Italy senaHello everyone, Well today we decided on a tour of Naples (Giovanni's walking tour) but as we (us two and the two Canadians) attempted to polish off 5ltrs of white wine (10 euros for 5 litres!!) last night we were very slow on the up and go! We made it to the Naples Archelogical museum which holds all the expensive and important artifects from Pompeii and Hercaleum (another city which was covered in the ash/mud) it was an interesting museum until we were informed by ...
