Nic came to stay! It was short but sweet (only 2 nights) & we also went to see David Guetta and had a night in Dubai as well as showing them round Abu Dhabi and having a cheeky Kayaking trip around the mangroves which was fantastic!!

We also went to Dubai Marina for lunch, Rays Bar, saadiyat beach to watch the sunset, the galleria mall for amazing chocolateness at Godiva Cafe, and wandered around the Christmas market and ate pancakes with nutella! mmm!

Abu Dhabi airport really is a thing of beauty, it is a golden-tiled globe that screams luxury. After a swift Colgate swirl and refresh (neccessity after the heavy air-con and recycled air on planes) I was ready to see the magnificent sights on offer in the mighty Emirates airport (one of many that is - wait until you see Dubai airport!).

... to give lectures on everything from Arabia to coral to famous seafarers. Jim explained that the taxi driver wanted 50 dirham for the 3km journey (as there were 4 of them!) They agreed on 20 dirham. I know in real terms that 3.30 is not worth arguing over but it’s the principle of the thing!! They never got to see the Grand Mosque as the taxi wanted 50 dirhams although that was to take them there. He never got the quote for bringing them back!!
