Later in 1565, when the spanish expedition led by Legazpi visited Cebu, and after a hostile encounter with the locals, set the village on fire, yet found the image unscathed.

After my **** dive on Malapascua i decided i would move on to Moalboal down on the west coast of Cebu hoping for better weather and conditions. Stopped over in Cebu City for another night to split the journey, this time paying 163 peso for a non-aircon bus back. This time i stayed at the Elicon Hostel just down the road from the Teo-Fel. ... many beautiful antiqued furniture. The descendants till today still live in this house on the weekends. Interesting artifacts include time worn baby jesus statues and crucifixes. The interiors confess an old world charm so antique that I felt transported back in time. Both National Monument and Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House are not mentioned in Lonely Planet guide book, so go check them out!
