... learned a lot from the sommelier. We tasted the wine first, then tried with different foods to see how it changed. Paul decided that Sauvignon Blanc would be the prefect wine with a cheeseburger since it went well with both the steak and the cheese. We give Mike and Sara kudos for hanging in there and trying all the wines since they don't really like wine. It seems the more wine Mike tries, the more confirmation he ...
Cayman Islands, Cayman Islands fair... and I immediately fell in love with their resort style pool, which has a waterslide and waterfall.
Since our arrival here, we have been going to the beach everyday and have been snorkelling out to the reefs, which are just off the beach. There is a large variety of tropical marine life and beautiful coloured fish, which follow you around when you swim. I saw a shark today, it was a medium sized nurse ...
... to complete than we were told, but why would we expect anything to really get done as quickly as we hope, especially on an island). The construction was completed in March of this year. We added the last decorating details on this last trip down and submitted the home for licensing with the Grand Cayman's Department of Tourism. Caymanease passed with flying colors (we knew it would because ...
North Side, Cayman Islands caymanease... waters are so clear is because there are no rivers or mountains on the islands, and therefore no runoff into the ocean to make it murky. Makes sense. It also explains why the island is so ugly. Oh - the boat stopped - our first snorkel stop was at Coral Gardens. We put on our gear and jumped in. Lots and lots of Sgt. Majors, Blue Tangs, a Stingray, Barracudas, Triggers - very nice. Almost as nice ...
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands nickoula... 6am was lovely. My cabin is as far forward as they go and about 20 feet from the water line, the compartment right in front of us is the "mooring station" where they keep all the ropes and the anchors. So anytime we dock we get a rude awakening but today was especially bad. the anchor sounded like a team of guys were trying to get through the adjoining wall with jackhammers. I'm looking forward to that every other week.... ok, time to get to the beach.
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands springac... opposed to trying to scramble to make a plane the same day. Later I'd appreciate that part of my pre-planning, too. But for now, we're enjoying a lovely conversation and going on about the plans we've made for excursions. Later I try to find out info on when we'll arrive at Grand Cayman and find out that the info I got from RC on shore was incorrect. This only becomes a problem ...
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands kinch417... connecting flight to Grand Cayman. By the way, kudos to whoever owns or is in charge of the Charlotte airport - free interest access to anyone with a wireless connection. Most airports I've been in lately make you buy some one-day pass through one of the big telecom companies to use their wireless connection. They also had white, wooden rocking chairs all over the place for people to just sit and relax in. All in all, I'm now a fan of the Charlotte airport. Perhaps I ...
George Town, Cayman Islands michaelshodsonThis was the last college spring break for both of us, since James graduated in May 2006 and I finished that December. We went (just the two of us this time!) to my favorite Caribbean island, Grand Cayman, and enjoyed beautiful Seven Mile Beach, fantastic scuba diving, and the perennial favorite, Stingray City!
... hit earlier today. I'm the second to get off the ferry, up the ferry steps and I'm airborne and laying on my back. Shocked would be a good expression. I'm struggling to get up and three official looking people are running toward me. Gary is right behind me helping me up. I'm now on my feet, sort of dazed, wondering what in the heck happened. Now the "officials" want me to be checked out and sign a waiver. I tell them "I ...
Georgetown, Cayman Islands kupdegra... anyhow. So, being the good little boy scouts that we are, we went out and bought tinned food and juices, cartons of cigarettes and beer just incase the stupid thing hit. I'd say all of Cayman was glued to the weather channel for a week and the conversation content wasn't about much else. So Saturday, September 11th rolled around and Hurricane Ivan was over by Jamaica and Cayman residents were advised to stay inside. The daylight hours were beautiful, hot and sunny ...
