Amazing Argentina!! We traveled to Argentina for our first wedding anniversary in April 2006. This was, without question, one of our favorite all-time destinations and one of our best trips ever. Coined the "Paris of South America", Buenos Aires is truly a remarkable city. It is extremely sophisticated and cosmopolitan; it's much more European than Latin and is a melting pot of European immigrants, mostly from Italy and Spain. We loved hearing multiple languages and of course I loved having t...

... SOAKED!!! not the Six Flags log flume kinda splash...but dripping, squishing, water up your nose kinda wet. Felt superb on a hot, steamy day =) Walked to the train station (mini tram around the park) - on the way saw TONS of butterflies. Almost everytime I would get the camera ready...they would fly away. I had dried off by this time, so on to round 2 of super soaker =) Catwalk to the edge of Garganta del ...
Puerto Iguazu, Litoral, Argentina lasondra... wonder is going to exceed your expectations. We finally get our first glimpse of the falls, from directly on top of them. The one advantage of visiting the Argentina side is that you literally walk among the falls, rather than see them from afar (although I would suggest doing both if you have the means). Little prepares you for seeing that much expanse of water pouring into the Earth, and it is the first time that I actual ...
Puerto Iguazu, Argentina mikey_james... br>
The Brasilian side isn´t as developed as the Argentinian side of the falls. We caught a Jurassic-park style bus into the park and then walked along the side of the gorge in the rain for misty, but spectacular views of the falls. The walk finished with a bridge out into the falls, where we looked down one fall while getting soaked from one above.

We wandered back, with a stop at a flash hotel for a beer. In typical kiwi traveller ...
Iguazu Falls, Argentina panzaverde... Within 5 mins we were out the door, looking for another hostel. Luckily enough we found one just up the road that was so much better, so booked a room, then had to sneak back and grab our bags before the owner came after us with a shotgun! Lauren also snuck up to the book and scrubbed out all our details, so we should be fine. thank god they didn´t ask us to pay in advance! An email has been sent since, telling them they can keep ...
Iguazu Falls, Argentina christinekiwi... diverse country. One common trend throughout was that the people are very proud, full of life and super friendly which made this an even more rewarding country to visit.

Highlight: Couldn't pick one so picked one per week! Amazon Adventures (boat and trekking), Jeri (relaxing in paradise), Rio (a beautiful city), Poco Azul (should be a natural wonder of the world) and Iguazu Falls (IS a natural wonder of the world for a ...
Foz de Iguacu, State of Parana, Brazil theblakes... seems long but over here the distances are so vast that everyone is saying 'oh thats not too bad' to journeys of that length on a bus! The difference is though that the buses are so comfy and the bus we booked to BA is a Cama Totale for about 50 euro. The seats fully recline back into beds like first class seats on a plane so finally looking forward to experiencing that! We were told they give you whiskey and champagne on board too so we will be ...
Puerto Iguazu, Litoral, Argentina sharor... scale of the falls, I settled for a few photos of Katie & I instead!

This is one of those places where it doesn't matter what you read, or what you're told about it, it's instantly overwhelming and much more powerful than you could ever expect.

I'm wearing a River Plate jersey ...

Puerto Iguazu, Argentina al_fey... playing in Spanish on TV. So we sat there and watched High School Musical 2 in Spanish -- even though my Spanish is rudimentary and hers is close to non-existent.

She is definitely gettng worn out by the travel and talks more and more about wanting to go home. But I think she is glad that we're doing the trip and she still has moments when she seems to be having a fantastic time (like when she beat me at ping pong.)
