... at the ship with an hour or more before last call to board. We were so hot that we immediately sought relief in the form of ice cream. Then we immediately did our laundry!

Jakarta is the home for many of the crew. It was very emotional watching the staff say good bye to their spouses and children. The families had spent the day on board touring the ship, enjoying lunch and playing with their parents. It was a bittersweet sail away. ...

So today was a 4am start, me and Anna were picked up at about 5am by the taxi driver who took us to Jakarta airport. Anna was flying home today and unfortunately she was in a different terminal to me, which meant a quick goodbye as she left the taxi and I saw her walking towards the airport entrance ���� it's going to be so strange traveling alone after spending so much time with her in the last three months and literally doing everything together!! ...

... capture and sale of exotic birds at this market. Among the beautiful birds of every imaginable color we also saw giant bats, monkeys, other small nocturnal animals, cats, dogs, mice, snakes, geese, chickens, roosters and lizards. We got brave enough to enter one of the stalls and the man immediately opened a cage and stuck a small iguana on me. The little guy scurried up to my neck and then went still.
