You do need a good conditions and it's not great for the knees either.
Well the rain stopped after a while and most of the way was covered in thick fog and the high humidity prevented the sweat from evaporating. This means that you sweat like a you-know-what and arrive on top completely drenched!

... which gave me a brief bit of time to recuperate. The scenery on the way up was quite pretty. When we arrived at the hostel, Bill set off on another hike while I settled in to rest my weary legs for a bit. Some of the stuff I’ve seen people carry up there – shopping bags (who does this?) people in sedan chairs (which seemed to me to be an extremely scary option – trusting two guys to carry you and not drop you ) and other workers carrying massive loads of goods such as bottles of water, or travellers suitcases and visiters carrying babies – all equals hard work!
