Surfing in Saipan!
... to sources Jan 2nd was suppose to be the best day of surfing in over a year! Saipan rarely gets days to surf due to the location of the reef around the island, but warnings had come up of the dangerous waves and undertow and all the surfers got ready!

A very memorable Christmas
... was a fairly short climb. Eventually we wound up at our endpoint and we weren't even the last ones there! As it was getting later in the evening and the sun started to set, the group made a bonfire on the beach and started to unwind. The next hour or two at the bonfire seemed very much like a fraternity ritual. There was a lot of drinking to be had by some and stories with much profanity to be told. In the end there was also a gift exchange, from which I received a coconut bra.

Things are Coming Together!
... A couple of hours after Suka got to work, she called me to tell me that her Japan visa was ready. They said up to five business days, so that was pretty quick. I ran out there in the middle of the day to get it and stopped by DFS to show her on the way back to the coffee shop.

... through the surf when the beaches gave way to rock outcroppings. I ended up carrying Suka's shoes while she swam much of the way. In a few areas there were little tidal pools in the rocks with salamanders jumping all over them.
Once we got to Obyan Beach, I dropped the shoes and Camelback at the head of the trail back to the car and went swimming, as well.
