    ... super-cool (not!) heat reflecting umbrella with me from now on.

    On the work front I had a pretty positive appraisal last week, and we get a new DOS (teachers boss) starting after Dragon boat festival next week, so am hoping that things will improve. We are still short of 3 foreign teachers, and everyone has really heavy workloads as a result. Apparently there will be a new intake of teachers next month, in time to help with summer school over Jul and Aug.

    As you may expect, days like Mother's Day and birthdays can be a bit tough when you are 5000 km away from the people you love, and 1 of the local teachers in particular realised this and invited me out to dinner with her and 2 of the other local staff.

    The 3 of them all live in the area known as university city - it is on its own island, and has several (I think they said 10) universities located there. It is considered to be THE place to go to uni in the province and was finished ...
