... and it seemed to be all uphill.
After lunch we visited the Lipica Horse stud. It's here where the Lippizan horse breed was started. We stopped by the fence on the way in and I fed some of the horses an apple. We went on a little tour around the stud and then there was a 45 minute show of the famous Lippazan horses. They performed dressage movements, long rein work, carriage work and the jumps that the horses are famous for.
Day two in Opatija we decided to explore the Istrian coastline. We found our way onto the main highway to find that it was an impressive system with numerous viaduct bridges across massive gullies and tunnels through what is a fairly mountainous part of the country. The longest tunnel was 5.5kms long which makes the Waiwera and Victoria Viaduct tunnels look like a child's play-set.
