    Day two in Opatija we decided to explore the Istrian coastline. We found our way onto the main highway to find that it was an impressive system with numerous viaduct bridges across massive gullies and tunnels through what is a fairly mountainous part of the country. The longest tunnel was 5.5kms long which makes the Waiwera and Victoria Viaduct tunnels look like a child's play-set.     After the orientation walk some of us headed out to Vintgar Gorge, which is about 3.5km from Bled, through lovely open Alpine countryside, dotted with lovely traditional chalets complete with balconies.

    ... enjoys speaking in English and learning more. She is an excellent translator and the evening is much smoother for everyone. Apparently I speak too fast for most of them to understand me, but Paul's exaggerated and comedic English is good for them! There is a lot of laughter, alcohol and fun.
