A banality was a tax or fee charged for the use of "banal" everyday things such as water from the communal well, crossing a bridge etc. They don't have much imagination in Grignan - the name of the street that goes up to the castle is called The Street that Goes Up To The Castle.     ... The chateau has an indoor heated pool and an outside pool that is also heated. Being red-blooded Aussies we had to throw the togs on and go for a dip.     Overnight the ship traveled to Viviers. There Cindy and I played and won at Fanny Petanque.
    We had a very special lunch in Valaurie at Les Mejeonnes Restaurant. After lunch there was a scarf tying lesson and a lecture from Chef John Bishop who was traveling with a group from Canada.
