Apparently we had 12 inches of rain overnight and the river has totally changed colour to a rather muddy hue! There is a fault with one of the bow thrusters and divers have to be brought up from Marseilles to deal with what is thought to be a snagged prop. Anyway we are off on our tour of Viviers which is another small medieval town of 4000 in the Ardeche region. It is also the smallest French town to have a cathedral and the new bishop was installed on Saturday. We walked around ...

... we set sail to Viviers, so a relaxing time until late afternoon when we were treated to a tasting of some of the lesser known French cheeses. Sun today so after slapping on the sun cream we got yesterday at the nice chemist (who let Peter have his prescription only eye drops without a prescription) decided not to have breakfast as it wasn't really a proper hotel so stop at boulangerie for the formulae - sandwich, gateau & coffee for peter and Quiche, gateau & coffee for me. The usual trouble finding the Via Rhona path so end up cycling along the busy road towards the next town where we ...

... old town & had seen a restaurant called Chez Grande Mere recommended on TripAdvisor but have real trouble finding it but when we finally do my 7hr slow cooked lamb was delicious as they had said but Peter wasn't so happy with his chicken - and yes it did taste stale. A real roundabout route via TomTom back to the hotel , not a great nights sleep with the traffic noise plus eating too much food too ...

A glorious chateau and lovely scenery.

... The chateau has an indoor heated pool and an outside pool that is also heated. Being red-blooded Aussies we had to throw the togs on and go for a dip. It was beautiful and as no-one knows us we didn't mind flashing our ample whale like white bodies! Obviously our natural charm was on display because an Irish colleen picked us as Aussies. We are dining in ...
