... to Plovdiv to try and get some cash out before venturing through the mountains. Just past town we were diverted, little did we know this would be the buzz word for Bulgaria! Diverted off the main highway, onto a small road, that got smaller and smaller and the pot holes started to outnumber the amount of Tarmac left. It was slow going and the short journey turned long. In the middle of all the diverting, Bulgaria had suffered some major ...

... campervan in their back garden. WHY??? Crazy town.

Once we arrived at the Dancing Bear Sanctuary, we met one of the keepers, Vil. She explained that the bears had all been rescued from various places around the country and there were, supposedly, none left performing in Bulgaria. The original owners would somehow get them as one year olds, put their paws on hot plates and play the violin. Once they stopped the music, they would remove the hot plates. ...

On the way home, Andie declares it's pub crawl time so we pulled into this low ceilinged pub, for want of a better description. It was essentially someone's rather large lounge room, with an open fire in it and a Bulgarian version of Days of our Lives on the TV screen. As far as pubs go, this one had a wide variety of drinks. Well, it had beer. It was room temperature but cheap, straight from the crate on the floor to your table in 3.2 seconds. At 1.20 ...
