    ... which sounded interesting. When I say old, I mean really old. About 4,000 years old! Los Millares, which was occupied from 2,700 to 1,800 BC, was the site of Spain’s first metalworking culture. At its height 2,000 people lived there. On view are the excavated remains of three city walls, a number of round houses and a couple of smelting rooms.

    There are also over 100 round dolmen-like tombs.

    ... to mine iron ore, it reached its peak around 1880, 3 iron ore mines were operating in Sierra Cabrera, located between Sopolmo and Adelfa. The ore came down by carts through Macena Promenade to its mouth on the beach from here it was loaded onto ships.     Just moved along the coast a hours drive to a lovely little town of Isleta del Moro with the Isleta del Moro Arráez just off the coast.
