We made it! After 24 hours of travelling, Lea and I have arrived in beautiful BA. The architecture here is beautiful and the city has a wonderfully friendly feel to it. I get turned around in an instant everywhere we go but Lea´s got this magical sense of direction so we haven´t been [majorly] lost yet. She is my human compass. And as my compass she directed us fresh off the plane to the nearest cafe where I had my first cafe con leche. Our first day´s objective was to plan an excursion to Ig...
Buenos Aires, Argentina lchan917Today our boat docked in Buenos Aires and we´re bak to our original hotel. it´s great to be back in this city; definititely one of our favorites... Yesterday we were in Montevideo, Chile. This town is probably best described as sleepy. We got in at 9am and the whole city was still shut. So we took a quiet city walking tour. The architecture here is definitely more colonial than most of the cities we´ve seen. So many gorgeous buildings. Since it was saturday flea markets and craft markets seem...

... a U turn with a crowd of male onlookers and a bus load of passengers. Unfazed, I slowly maneuvered the bike around being careful not to jam on the brake. A 3-point turn saw me safely on my way again to the shaking heads of the male onlookers. I must admit, I was pretty proud of myself and maybe cool on the outside but shaking inside.

After a few more wrong turns in tandem, (must have looked funny to anyone following us). We located Hostel Colonial and asked ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina jennykelly... were at the airport in plenty of time for my flight... oops.

When I finally got to the right airport and the right country (don't make that mistake often) the flight was 2 hours delayed. Well some smiling and some minor flirting and I managed to get on the earlier flight that had also been delayed 2 hours so arrived at the time i should have.

A bus and a tube later and I arrive at the hostel to find I had put the wrong date in on my booking... double oops ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina jonsharland... two bad knees!

A Minute Silence for Bobby
After hearing the sad news that Bobby Robson had passed away, a good few of the English contingent were quite upset about it. After all he was a gentleman and a legend. The only fitting way to mark the occasion was to hold a minutes silence at the football competition, so prior to kick off of one game it was arranged, with the Argentinian referee who understood the significance. A circle was made around the centre ...
Buenos Aires, Distrito Federal, Argentina adammvb... natural but in the shadow of heavy industry. Along the path there were tons of wild guinea pigs. Prior to this Katie had only seen these in a cage and was quite fascinated by them and took many pictures. By the time we got back frm running and coffee it was after four pm. That night we watched Argentina play Ecuador in a World Cup qualifying match at an Irish Pub- Argentina lost. The next day was more coffee, more pasta, more wine and more walking.
Buenos Aires, Argentina darrenkatie... brought food on a tray whilst wrapped up in a blanket watching a movie that he is now very excited about getting old enough to go into a home.

Bariloche is a beautiful town full of swiss-style chalets and surrounded by snow capped mountains. After our wine indulgences in Mendoza it was good to have the opportunity to do something healthy and active, and we spent one full day climbing up a huge snow peaked mountain. The walk took us through woodland which was beautiful as the ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina jessjamie... street corners on Sundays, and the filth blasting from antique bus exhausts, doggy doo completes the small list of things in Buenos Aires that I haven't enjoyed.

There's much to admire and revere about this city, including its diverse range of noctural activities, though I wouldn't count pooch poo spotting and midnight saturation high on the list. There'll be more on the good stuff in my next blog.
<br ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina deaworldwide... at Ernestos down in San Telmo, we both had a huge steak. I am not a massive fan of meat but thought I should try it. Can´t believe how juicy and tender it was - the flavour here is totally different to the beef we get back home and it is a lot cheaper. The local supermarket is called Disco and is packed everyday full of people getting there christmas goodies. Quite jealous, will miss all the tasty treats of chrismas.
Buenos Aires, Argentina louiseharris... learnt that Bolivia is the "in" place for the ultimate in adventure travel. If you are into cycling, I have found the ride for you - a day riding the "Highway of Death". You start at a town near La Paz at a altitude of 4670m then descend down to the jungle at 2500m on this narrow road sometimes staring over 300m deep precipices. At least the cyclists no longer share the road with the buses and trucks but still the ultimate ...
