... mix of pre-romanesque, gothic and baroque. The pre-romanesque part houses very important relics among Christians - one of them being a cloth that said to have covered Christ's face and has blood stains. Aside the relics, there are many interesting sculptures, paintings, etc everywhere.

... our car and dropped by a nice bakery. (Of course!) We picked up a coconut macaroon and a florentine. They were both super good! We walked around the town a bit - this is very Asturian - there are so many sidrelias around. It's basically a bar/restaurant which brew/serve fresh apple ciders. People go there to get a cider or two with some food. Maybe we should try it for dinner tonight.

... on the way up and hear this cacaphonic din of bells - it's goats being herded down the road! So we wait for them with shepherd in orange shirt with dog following behind, mobile phone in hand moving on down the hill, (modern day shepherding) a sight to behold and as we wait........the clouds roll in. We keep going steady - there's green cross marks on the road where the road has given way to falling apart down the hill somewhere, so leave the wheels off ...

Hi ho out the door and chose a Path that again went through the mountains rather than the coast. Visited Oveido which is where we will pass through on the Camino primitivo. Just as treacherous as yesterday with excessively sharp bends.

... the main and ate 3 bowls of the octopus and potato soup. Then when the ribs and roast potato main meal arrived, he was bulging at the seams. Lucky he has a separate stomach for dessert.
It was such a wonderful experience & a favourite memory of Gijon. We will be dreaming about that meal for years to come.
