Every two years, the weather man declared, there are strong gales in the south of England, the type that disrupt train services, housewives lose their laundry drying on the line, umbrellas get blown inside out - and even trees are blown down. We arrived in Brussels and got ourselves to our hotel and dumped our bags so we could start our day in the city and see the 5th biggest Cathedral in the world! Haha. And whatever else Brussels had to offer us, not to mention the food, chips, chocolate, waffles and beer!! We had a great day walking about and being amazed with how much Belgium loved us. Haha. ... ate the chips with mayo (i swear they eat mayo with everything) and then they asked if I wanted to watch a movie. They were all excited. ... Parc du Bruxelles and the Royal Palace. The Royal Palace was pretty impressive-looking, and Belgian flag was flying above it, which means the king was somewhere in Belgium (!). This apparently is impressive, since the king is known to spend most of his time at his house in the French Riviera. ... were other super tourists who ate a big meal and then had waffles with ice cream, chocolate sauce, fruit, whipped cream etc...the works! We wandered around the town for quite a while the first day, trying to find room in a hostel. We ended up finding space in a hostel a bit out of town, but it was reasonably nice, though strange for one with an age restriction. Lots of teenagers and those who were not were smoking like crazy ...

I guess it must've been undergoing some major restoration as most of its walls were brought down, cables lying around everywhere like some bomb had hit the metro or something..
