      ... is worth over 15 million dollars. The royal Armory shows some of the shields and weapons used by generations of the royals. Then I visited the Almudena Cathedral on the opposite side of the Palace. It's interior is beautiful with high ceiling and nice paintings as well as stained glass.       8am misa and laudes was a lovely way start the day with the sun catching the city wall turrets beyond the chapel garden. It was a late dinner last night - Spanish time works differently and dinner wasn't until 9pm. We slept heavily lapping up the peace of Carmel after the party atmosphere of Madrid.

      ... hospitality of Carmelites at the Universidad de la Mistica tonight after soaking up the spirit of Avila and the spirits that flow freely at the supper table even in a Carmelite monastery.
