Stuff ups with buses etc. arrived in Saville 10.30 dinner then bed.
Have three great days with Lorraine. Visited churches, convents, bibloteca's and other interesting historic places.
We had forgotten how late the Spanish eat, how much they smoke but how fabulous the food and vino is.

8am misa and laudes was a lovely way start the day with the sun catching the city wall turrets beyond the chapel garden. It was a late dinner last night - Spanish time works differently and dinner wasn't until 9pm. We slept heavily lapping up the peace of Carmel after the party atmosphere of Madrid.

... hospitality of Carmelites at the Universidad de la Mistica tonight after soaking up the spirit of Avila and the spirits that flow freely at the supper table even in a Carmelite monastery.
Off to Segovia tomorrow. Sorry if the reports get briefer but the wfi is not always reliable and getting the pics from camera to blog can be a tedious process.

Lovely suckling pig, certified 11 days old, and a quarter lamb. The "cochinilla" is a regional favorite, and i can highly recommend "Casa Duque" a restaurant that can be booked 3 months in advance. We made sure that we arrived early since we didn't have a reservation. Now trust 4 meat loving ...
