What Happened in Spain Part II

... mine haha. We checked out downstairs with cool hippie-German clerk and then set out on a search for churros con chocolate. Yes, you read that right. What an amazing combination! I know! You are served a heaping plate of churros and a mug full of thick chocolate, used for dipping. Oh and sugar too, of course ;). Unfortunately, the churros weren't very impressive. I'd say they get better the farther north you go in Andalucia. The rest of the morning ...

... and Cameron Diaz in it. I hope they get a part! Lunch was interesting and kind of like eating in a Chinese restaurant as the plates just kept coming! After lunch we said goodbye to the sons and continued walking and finally ended up back at the ship but not before taking a rest in the Plaza DE Espana across from the ship. When we were there the park cat ladies came by and fed the wild cats who were pretty friendly. Great ending to a very nice day!

Sherry Tasting and the Andalusian Horses

Today was the second and last excursion we did through Holland America. Jacqui had wanted to see the Andalusian horse show, and we could also get in a sherry tasting with it!

First off was the tour of the Gonzales Byass winery. I'm not a big fan of the normal sherries, but I love the sweet sherries. And it was cheap. I got a ...

Dancing horses

We got up really early (for us vacationers). It was about 8:15am. We decided we would drive 2 hours to a city called Jerez de la Frontera to see the famous dancing horses of Jerez. The tour guide said it was worth the drive... We arrived to another city. Not as big as Seville, but a city nonetheless. Shae was super excited to see the dancing horses. The show started at noon and lasted 1.5 hours. Shae lasted about 20 minutes - which was pretty good for her ...

We tried to overhear some conversations to find out what was going on, but it was hard because of the noise of the ocean. Little did we know that Cadiz was about to transform that night into a giant stage for a festival of I-don't-know-and-I-don't-want-to-know-w hat, with people dressing up, dancing, drinking, smoking and making out in ...

Our first day in Rota!

... us free breakfasts for our entire stay. We spent the afternoon walking through Rota from the beach to the Naval base main gate. My two sets of camera batteries were dead, so I was unable to take pictures of our initial tour of Rota. Since, we will be here for another 5 days, there will be plenty in the coming days. It is REALLY GREAT coming back here. It is made even better as the weather is perfect!

Gek dat dat voor de vorige niet nodig was, misschien beginners geluk! ... preparation and ceremony that goes into their 'meagre' festivities. Every night for over a week, a procession, sometimes two, would pass through the town steets in a slow and penitent shuffle that would last for up to eight hours. Those that march wear robes and hoods, very KKK-style though i'm pretty certain Spain came up with the idea a few centuries before Alabama. And despite this unfortunate correspondence, there is nothing sinister about the Spanish penitents. Under the ...

I am starting to wonder if its something you have to find inside yourself. I realized that I wasn't going to get any sleep after all so I ended up just having a shower and packing up. Next I headed into the kitchen for coffee. I vowed that from this point on, I am going to be healthy. I am grateful for resolve.

... as it whipped out behind me and curled around the side of my body. I plopped myself down in the sand near some bubbly sand dune plants to watch the day. I couldn't really sleep but I rested while watching a little bug crawl over my giant purple bruise. Maybe it thought it was a colorful flower. After I returned home, I nestled into the chase as I was suddenly all of a sudden very exhausted again. Evan emerged from his den at around 5pm ...
