We stopped at the port of Corfu. The only way to really get around the island is to take an excursion. At least it was for us. We were going to see a Monastery in the village of Palaiokastritsa and to the village of Gastouri to visit the 19th century Achilleion Palace.

Being me I was very hungry, so I spent to ask the tour manager Clive who's also from the U.K. Where can I get some food on board because I missed lunch due to the tour. Clive turned to me and said, just go up to the pool deck, speak to the waiters and they'll take care of you. My face lit up, so up I went and spoke ...

... I noticed that the vast number of other walking with us did not! It seems that it was a voluntary fee and no one ever checked if you purchased a ticket or not. So we wasted 16€ for the privilege of getting rained on while walking through the citadel that was free for the walking. Corfu was the staging area for the Crusades of the 12th & 13th century. We visited the British built Church of Saint George the dragon slayer which was at the base of the fort ...
