Heaven, I'm in Heaven

What a difference a holiday can make! I've been in Auckland for five days and really just took a holiday from the holiday. On Saturday morning I moved from the hostel into the Oakes hotel and what a relief to stay in a place where I didn't have to wear flip flops in the shower. I am feeling rejuvenated, almost completely healthy and ready to start sight seeing again. I leave for Singapore tomorrow and will be staying with friends of my wonderful friends Roger and Andrea who worked there for t...

What was the 28th now the 29th

What was the 28th now the 29th, Departure was the hardest part of leaving Canada. Being parted from all your friends creates a painful welt in your soul. Other then that the flight was made well by Gravol :p That gravol really works! I didn't "regurgitate my food" once while on the plane ride to vancouver or on the take off to New Zealand. It's too early to say that I won't on the way down, but a day (24 hours) would have passed enabling me to take more oh so ummmmy ginger gravol. I'm going t...

June 30th 2008

June 30th 2008 I'm really tired tonight, so I don't want to spend much time staying awake, it's 8 p.m and the jet lag is catching up with me. Yesterday night I had a shower. The water was scalding hot and burned down my body. It was nice because we'd spent the whole day walking around Auckland so my whole body was sore. Also, yesterday night was the first time I got to wear my hello kitty Pyjamas. Saw vegimite in the corner store yesterday. Ate a kiwi for breakfast this morning, it was very g...

July 1st

July 1st Today; We awoke (me and my mother) at 7:30 in the morning. We did not get "a good sleep" as we did the day before, we woke up quite a few times and went to bed later resulting in less sleep overall. We did not practise karate today. For breakfast I ate a kiwi, a banana, a bowl of cherios, a glass of orange juice and a cup of morning tea. Last night I went to bed feeling awfully sick. I had a head ache, a sore stomach and developed a sore throat. This morning I was able to lessen the ...

Auckland, adieu

... CS drinks
meeting on Wednesdays proved quite welcoming. And, as well as all
that, I also learned how to make home-made pizzas from scratch - a most
welcome addition to my culinary repertoire!

Entonces, hopefully it won't be long before we are relaxing in the balmy rays of the warm evening sun, feasting on handcrafted pizza, quaffing a fine vintage acquired directly from a local bodega and reflecting on another glorious day of happy labouring! Roll on Napier...!

NZ-The final part of our NZ adventure

... for them to get to for the weekend. It is a beautiful area, full of very secluded beaches, forested mountainous areas along with some very quaint villages. It is also very historic as it was one of the first areas for settlement, with logging, ship building and farming going on there. We spent three days looking around and left understanding why it is so popular. The first day was spent heading up the east side of the peninsular that is the Coromandel. We spent the night in a small town ...

Sight-seeing in Auckland

... kiosk to check in, so all I needed to do was to check my bags and I was off. I went and got a cup of coffee and then went to the gate. The flight left on time at 9:30 am. When I arrived in Aukland, I picked up my luggage and went to the Hertz car rental office. They had a silver Mazda waiting for me to pick up. I got directions from the girl at the rental counter as well as a map of Aukland and I headed out. If you are wondering ...

... on this beach; at low tide the sand gives way to a slimy mud. Moved on to Mission Bay where there are lots of people and a much nicer beach. Back home for BBQ tea. Stayed up to see the New Year in and had a good view of the Sky Tower fireworks from the front porch at midnight. 01.01.09 Thursday - New Year's Day. The first day of 2009 dawned sunny and warm so decided a day at the beach was in order. This time headed out to Bethells Beach ...

Auckland...the most blah city in the World?

... about 2 hours after I landed from LA) but because my flight from LA was delayed I missed the connection so I'm having to wait until tomorrow for the next one (apparently the seem to think that this isn't long enough to warrant paying for a hotel for me, and also because they told me "in advance" then I'm supposed to have organised something on ...
