Historical Traveler Reviews Hotel Amarano Burbank

A comfortable, relaxing hotel with all the perks

    from

My husband and I stayed at the Graciela on our way back from our honeymoon in Hawaii. We thought we were in for a disappointment after staying in Maui for two weeks -- but the Graciela was such a cozy, relazing environment for the last leg of our trip. The bed was by far the most comfortable I have ever experienced in a hotel. The decor was extremely modern, simple and beautiful. We also loved the DVD player -- we put on the hotel's complimentary bathrobes and watched DVDs on our luxurious bed for a few hours! Breakfast was great -- plenty of fresh fruit -- and when we wanted to go to Universal Studios, a hotel driver was happy to take us. I highly recommend this hotel and would use it again in a heartbeat.

    Small upscale chic,wonderful service

    from

We had to move out of our home for a week as we were refinishing our hardwood floors and we booked a suite in this classy hotel close to our offices. We were welcomed by a very gracious staff and the first floor suite was wonderful. There is a full size refrigerator, stove- top and microwave in the granite topped kitchenette. The bedroom is luxurious with high count sheets and SIX goose down king-size pillows on one king size bed! There is a tv and dvd in both the bedroom and the living area. We loved being on the first floor with a huge patio! We brought our 70 pound golden retriever with us($150 Fee)and she was genuinely welcomed. This small hotel is in the heart of burbank(not a very exciting town) but the staff and service are top notch as you would recieve at a Four Seasons Hotel. The 24 hour room service food is fantastic, too! The library lounge is mellow but hip and the gym has everything you need! We did not make it up to the rooftop pool. The valet, front desk, bell captain, housekeeping- everyone A+p.s.We booked our room via orbitz and recieved a great rate. The hotel website is ********* check out the virtual tour! There is only valet parking. There is a grocery store and a starbucks accross the street and the Warner Brothers Studio and NBC is in walking distance.(Check out the Tonight Show with Jay Leno!) If you have kids..... Griffith Park Zoo is only a couple of miles away. The park also has pony rides, small trains and an old-time carousel. It is our three year old daughtrer's favorite place to go!

Cozy, easy on the eyes and senses....

    from

We stayed at the Graciela 2 days during the week of March 15, 2004. The rooms are well maintained, contemporary, cozy and easy on the eyes and senses. Our room included dishes, glassware, a stovetop and a microwave and a small refrigerator.I have to say that this was the best Hotel bed I've ever slept in. The Italian sheets were incredibly soft and the pacific coast down pillows and down comforter only added to the luxury. I?d like to know where I can purchase those sheets! If anyone knows about Sili D?oro sheets, please let me know, I cannot find them on the web.The housekeeping staff was pleasant and we were pleased for the most part. Upon leaving, we checked under the bed for any missing items and did find a few pieces of trash that were left from the previous occupants: an empty bag of skittles and an empty container of cream cheese. The turn-down service was especially lovely! We returned to the hotel each night to find 2 candles lit in frosted votive holders and a bottle of water beside the bed. The candles made the room so very lovely, such an elegant touch. The fitness center is well equipped, including 2 treadmills, an elliptical trainer, a recumbent bicycle and some weight machines. One of the treadmills and the elliptical also has their own personal "Cardio Theatre" television to watch while working out. It had about 20 channels and you just plugged in your own headphones. There is a sauna, lockers, towels, robes, and shower facilities with soap, etc available. Outside on the deck there is ample lounging room, a covered table and chairs, and a Jacuzzi with a TV. Towels are provided at the Jacuzzi too.The staff for the most part was exceptional, including the hard working men at the front door. There was one exception in service to our entire visit. We felt that the young lady who just happened to be on staff during the afternoon when we checked in and out was not very pleasant or customer service friendly. We had no dispute or issue about anything; she was just plain old unfriendly acting. Half way through check out another employee, a manager of some sort, came out to the counter on unrelated business. Her attitude suddenly got 80% better. Funny how that works. The other staff we dealt with were all incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We called the front desk to request two things during our stay and both times they were delivered immediately. In addition, we were given a lovely suggestion as to a local restaurant and the man on duty at the front desk even printed us directions.

    Overrated

    from

On February 14, 2004 I checked into the Graciela Burbank.I had purchased the Sweet Indulgence Package for my weekend. Unfortunately, some of the services were inadequate and I was extremely disappointed. Upon arrival I was expecting rose petals to be in my room. I was devastated when I initially walked into our room and the rose petals were nowhere to be found. I graciously approached the front desk and asked for the service to be performed later in the evening when I would be away. The front desk guaranteed they would correct the error. When I arrived in my room that night, the service still had yet to be performed. Also, upon arrival in my room I felt like the hotel misrepresented some of the items in the package. The package stated a bottle of Roederer Champagne and rather we were given a lesser quality bottle of Gloria Ferrer Sonoma Brut. Upon check out the front desk made several errors I had to correct them on. I don?t feel it was my responsibility to make sure they knew their job. I was initially charged for parking which is included in the package. I was also offered compensation of $10.00 for not accommodating us with our rose petals. The front desk initially overlooked both charges/credits when I looked at my statement. My romantic weekend-getaway I had planned for turned out to be flawed and disappointing.

    Quiet and classy

    from

We were pleasantly surprised by the spacious, very clean room we enjoyed for our one night stay. The staff was professional and helpful.

We wouldn't hesitate to go back.

    Nice place, but....

    from

My wife and I stayed at the Graciela for Valentine's Day and overall it was a decent place. A few negatives: the ceramic cups in the bathroom looked like they were used & unwashed and the small bottle of lotion in the bathroom was half used. Also, upon checking out, I notified them that I drank the $5.50 bottle of Fiji water and they charged me for it on the final bill. A few days later I noticed another charge on my credit card of $5.50 for the water. What's up with that?

    Fantastic hotel

    from

One of the nicest hotels to stay in. In a quiet area with a very comfy bed. Classy place where celebrities are known to stay as well. Service was great.

    They Lie

    from

the management of The Graciela does not tell the truth. I tried to stay at The Graciela making reservations more than one month in advance and securing the room with a credit card. Upon arriving, I found my reservation had been canceled and I had no room. They claimed that I had made the reservation for the same day but one month earlier. OK, it could have been a misunderstanding. But I had secured the reservation with my credit card. Wouldn't they have charged it as a no-show? Yes, they said, I was charged buy they would be happy to credit my card for the amount. Since them, I've contacted my bank to learn that they never charged my card as a no-show and thus never reversed the charge. If they lie about this, how can I believe their story about my reservation being for the wrong day? I'll never go there again!

    Graciela...wonderful!

    from

Searched for a nice place in LA and found The Graciela. It was wonderful! The bedding was nicer then I'd ever had in ANY hotel. Down and 300 thread count! The standard rooms are not huge but beautiful. DVD players included. The location is residential and peaceful and they're a Starbuck's across the street. The rooftop jacuzzi complete with remote to a TV and the workout room were great. The breakfast room is charming and the staff helpful and kind. We loved it!

    Amazing!

    from

I stayed here for my 30th birthday and was blown away by the service! The staff was amazing! They went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. They recommended a terrific steakhouse, then made our dinner reservations for us (at our request) then gave us a $25 gift certificate to the restaurant. (Thank you Jasmin!) The hotel is exceptional! The beds are to die for! Luxurious!! The roof has an amazing view with a jacuzzi! Two thumbs up all the way!
