This was our second full day on Malta, and Alex had planned an adventure for us both. The day started with the usual delicious breakfast provided by the hotel, before we walked down to the harbor to take a boat ride to Gozo. Gozo is the second largest island in the Maltese archipelago, and was supposedly the inspiration for one of the islands …

The problem is that everything you learn as a kid growing up, you can’t unlearn. And if you have kids of your own you will teach then all of the things you learnt growing up. So in order to become a German, Australian or whatever else, it takes about three generations. I can integrate into German society, by learning what to do or not to do and ...

Monday 15 Sep 14 – We are travelling east at 22 knots and are catching up with the sun. Thought I would be sun safe and do my morning walk in the pre-sunrise light but time is catching up with us and the sun arrived at 7am instead of the expected hour later. However, still got a good hour of walking in before the humidity kicked in.

Because we do not arrive in Malta until 2pm this afternoon, the morning is treated as a sea day so ...

I woke up early and walked to Gabriel's boat. We were going scuba diving today! I knocked on the door to wake him and then we sunbathed on the deck whilst chatting to his friend and colleague John. We bought fresh OJ at a nearby café and then Eddie arrived. Eddie is the diver who attached the lifting bags to the Charlotte Louise, and has been assisting through the whole process. He is also a talented diving, climbing and salsa instructor! What a cool guy! Next time I come to Malta ...

I woke up feeling a bit seedy and managed to pass a yawn across the world via Skype to Mum and Dad. How cool is that?!

I had a hearty breakfast of porridge, pasta, toast, banana and orange juice. Yeah, I know it's a lot! I just couldn’t stop!

We were going on a road trip to the South today, so Rami headed out to find a hire car. Our usual supplier was out of vehicles, so Rami had to go further afield, but finally found one at Hertz.
