... decided it was time for new shoes. Around an hour and a half after entering the store (and after a lot of humming and hah-ing) he bought a new pair, funnily enough a close replica of the pair with holes!! For dinner we went for tea at Dylan Thomas' favourite pub - the "No Sign Wine Bar". Jono decided he would like to try "Brains Beer" and after a few sips concluded it wasn't his favourite drink...at all! I am glad I stuck to orange ...

We arrived in London an hour early as we had 230km/h tail winds! It was a nice flight with no real turbulence and time seemed to pass quickly. The beaches and cliffs of Gower
... beaches, dunes, nature reserve through saltwater marsh, woodland trails and cliff tops. I learned that gorse blossoms smell like coconut! (Why are they still in bloom at the end of October?) We saw kestrels (they can hover like helicopters), choughs (pronounced "chuff," they are like crows but with red beaks and feet) and even wild ponies.

Not a good start...
... the esplanade only served to further dampen our increasingly waterlogged spirits. More flatness. Fortunately, this state of despair only continued until we rounded the final bend of the road leading to Rest Bay. As we crossed the apex, we were greeted by a precession of cars and vans turning towards the beach. The human/sheep instinct kicked in instantly - if that many people are doing it, it must be good!
