INAUGURATION FROM HELL: $5 foot longs and gravel

It started off like any other day,(at 1PM) but little did we know that that day was about to turn into a horror movie..... We rolled out of bed and went to an overpriced salad bar. THE END. JOOSSTTT KIDDING We mazed our way through thousands of people towards the Smithsonian, where we waited in line because the building had reached capacity(8500 peeps) and FINALLY we got inside... sneaking in mango juice in on the way. It only took about 5 minutes before we lost eachother ...

Day 133 Washinton DC 4th day

... Veterans from Omaha Nebraska on a tour in five buses, with carers assisting them. One fellow spotted Earnie's hat and started a conversation with him, and was happy to run into another Australian, he had travelled on the Queen Elizabeth to the England in WWII, on the ship were some Australians, he said he would never forget them standing in uniform at attention as the ship sailed into England. Earnie managed to give the old ...

The just-in-time check-in traveller - part 2

So I was supposedly leaving to Washington D.C. on the afternoon but I spent "some" time walking around Harlem and then Central Park, and I didn't consider that the train is really slow, or the airport is too far, or both. To put it plain, this time I totally broke all my records and I arrived to check-in just minutes before departure time. So, no way this time and lost my flight. Well not that bad I guess, paying a "small feee", I wait ...

... Naval Academy. We saw 2000 midshipmen on the field being reviewed by a General. We heard the Navy band as well as the Drum and Bugal corp. Great time. - The Blue Angeles. We had to leave before the full air show, but an hour and half of practice over the river was great too. We were fortunate that a friend of ours let us use a slip on the Back Creek. We went over there after air ...

... as to what it is since the last business trip that brought us this way. I was expecting some kind of cajun food. Turns out they're basically just a KFC. The chicken just has a bit of a kick. I don't think this will become our new favorite place. We arrived at our campground in the dark, but it appears to be really nice. It's the first county park we've stayed at. I'm a little disappointed because they charge almost ...

Happy B'day America

... The place was decorated with b&w pics of celebrities and politicians. Even the booth behind me was reserved for the "governors office" with one side labeled Republicans and one Dems. Then promptly at 9:30 the owner got up near the front and announced all should rise for the 'Pledge of Allegiance", so ...

... so we stole the decleration of Independence (just like in National Treasure the movie) and ate an ice cream in the park. Dinner was at a wicked Irish pub so we ate stew and drank beer!!! We then went home, bought popcorn and other trashy American junk foods, and watched about 20 minutes of Lord of the Rings on tele before we zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!

... a week-long visit, which included lots of sightseeing around DC, hanging with the fam, and a surprise 21st birthday party with my family and neighbors, featuring foodstuffs and wine and beer from every country I went to! Though Carl and I spent the summer and all of fall semester apart, it felt like no time had passed at all. :o) And as for Christmas this year, it was one of the best we ever had. I have relished every day just hanging around the house with everyone home, talking with my ...

... beach (10 km away) and my Yoga School. Not a bad result. The Yoga Course started Monday and so far our days start at 9.30 and finishisg at about 11.00 pm. It has been a long and very tough week. 300 students in a large sauna and just about a foot of room about my yoga mat. So a challenge, yes indeed. Hit the wall Thursday and got through the day but was fairly wasted. Trick it to eat lots of food and drink endless amounts of water and mineral supplements. One young ...

End of the Cruise

... the hard at Spice Island Marine in July and August. We rendezvoused with lots of friends for a week or so in True Blue Bay, Mt. Harmon Bay and Prickly Bay before we hauled Free Spirit at Spice Island for her annual service. Since Al had not been to Grenada and I had not been there since the devastation of Ivan in September 2004, we rented a car and toured the island. It is wonderful to see that the infusion of insurance cash has brought the rebuilding and considerable improvement of ...
