Goa, Goa, India emeric.bensaci... had been a long while since we had R&R on the beach (probably since Nha Trang, Vietnam), so we immediately through our bags into the shack, changed into our suits and headed for the beach chairs for the remainder of the afternoon. We laid there through the sunset with our Kingfisher beers in hand. After showering, we explored the one main road in town. It was lined with merchants selling everything from jewelry to books to scarves and ...
Goa, India 3vagabonds... colonial style buildings. The place has a derelicte charm oozing out of the slightly mouldy Portuguese mansions and crosses covered with garlands of flowers at the corners of roads. There wasn't much to see or do here aside from a church or two, but we undertook a day trip to Old Goa. There we saw a half dozen cathedrals looking like some giant invisible hand had taken them from Southern Europe and placed them amongst coconut trees. Old Goa was three or four ...
Goa, India tavini... on then" "Indian promise?" "whats that?" We shook little fingers and Shilpa continued working and playing just occasionally when she could. The next day as I was sunning myself I heard a familiar voice "remember me?" she was back and ready to close the deal! Having little interest in Indian tat I declined much to Shilpa's horror.Big mistake.By breaking the Indian promise I was now cursed! She didn't say this as such but certainly implied it.I tried to appease ...
goa, India gyppojim... enjoyed....especially Laju...more on that later. As I joined the group late in making the decision to go on this trip, the decision was made to put me in the same room as the girls as the boys just had two twin beds and the girls had room for another bed in their room...lucky me. We dropped our bags off, changed into appropriate beach attire and walked down the beach for a while. Unlike my first trip to Goa...thsi time we're in North ...
Goa, India bwulz... was happening and that I had something to wear! We did joke about having a naked or swimwear wedding when the outfit didn't fit but I don't think anyone would have wanted to see the photos! We had a lovely time with everyone in Goa, thank u all so much for coming. The wedding was lovely apart from the Priest forgetting Dean's name and then calling me "John"! I've got lots of pics which I'll send out as soon as I'm home, too slow here. We had it ...
Palolem, Goa, India squeak_1912... not crowded and had a lot more young people. Most of the accommodations in Arambol are bamboo huts overlooking the beach, but I managed to score a room at one of the few guesthouses in town for $9/night (call me crazy but I wanted running water). On the main road leading down to the beach, I heard music ranging from Tejano blaring form a taxi to Johnny Cash from a small shop. Once again I kept forgetting where I was ...
Arambol (Goa), India bcc8... and milkshakes. Baumfields opted for an airconditioned room to aid in the aclimitization process, Hotops opted to sweat and crumble under the fan in nighttime temps in the mid thirtys. Seemed a good idea until I became the first person in the world to get a cold in the tropics. That kept me off the beers for a couple of days but luckily I was able to drink vicariously through Jono, Mel and Ant. Even though we were in a nice place it was still kinda busy, we knew we ...
Palolem Beach, India hotfield... piled high on their heads and danced on shards of broken glass, blades of swords and on top of glass glasses - it was incredible. They say it is from Yoga and other internal disciplines - I have some pics but it is hard to make out all that the dancers were doing since it was really busy - so much visual stimulation. There were also puppets there which were so great. The puppets were life like in detail and danced to music - the dance was just as good as the real thing if not better ...
