Historical Traveler Reviews of Gothia Towers Gothenburg
Excellent hotel
from Cheerychick
We stayed in a standard double room in the Gothia Towers Hotel. The views were great and the facilities and space in the room excellent. The buffet breakfast was busy on the Sunday morning- its completely self-service, but lovely and quiet on Monday. There were lots of families staying as the Liseberg Gardens are immediately opposite the hotel. The atmosphere was cool and calm in the hotel- the staff friendly and the surrounding area ideal for eating out or walking to town/the botanic gardens. We would go again and would not hesitate to recommend the hotel to both families and couples/singles.
Stunning hotel

What a Hotel, stayed here on the Easter Weekend 05, on great value for money rates. One thing - ask for a non smoking room ! better decor & views. Heaven 23 bar and restaurant are stunning, definitley the place to be on a Saturday night and the food in the restaurant is delicious !!!! One more thing to add, I have never seen so many plates of prawns beeing sold in one place in my life !! they tasted great too...
Sky Executive Room - recomended

Used to stay at the Elite Plaza [ a 5 star hotel ] - but on this trip could not get it booked so, stayed at the Gothia Towers for the first time. Found the staff very helpful, used the valet parking service and all was as it should be. Did not eat in the hotel so cannot comment on the restaurent. BUT, if you stay at this hotel, you must book the SKY EXECUTIVE ROOM. The view from the 22nd floor is terrific. Plus, rooms have free pay TV, free Mini Bar, free room service. 15 minute walk to the Avenue for restaurents - so no problem there. Down side - it is big and it is not a pretty hotel, but put that to one side and enjoy the views !!
Okay - but nothing special
from Vixen
We stayed the night the weekend before Christmas. It is quite a bland hotel with not alot to recommend it or not recommend it. There is nothing particularly special about it, the service is very impersonal, but there is nothing really to complain about either. Quite a cold experience.
The View from the Bar

This is pretty much a conference hotel, but we booked it because it was across the road from the big theme park that our kid wanted to visit. We stayed for two nights, and it was pretty good, although slightly cool and clinical as the Swedish interior design normally is. My 10 year old son loved the glass elevator that takes you up to the bar on the 23rd Floor, and the view from up there gives a panorama of the city. It's nice at night too, when it seems to be fairly busy with Swedish businessmen. The rooms were up to the standard of a Hilton or Hyatt type hotel, and there was good internet access at two points in the lobby. Apart from the theme park and nearby Science Museum, there wasn't a lot in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, but you could walk into the centre of town no problem. Or take a tram - there's a big terminus outside.
All in all no problems or faults with this big, somewhat anonymous, business hotel.

The best wasn't there

My husband and I was overnighting 27--28/8 at Gothia Towers, room 2228. It was a great view! The room was ok, but little small.
In the afternoon, I was thinking of a nice Relax/Spa, to get ready for the evening. What do I find, solarie and sauna! No pool, no bubblepools, no massage, no service, no relaxing at all!!! I don´t want to leave the hotel, to getting relaxed!
The best with overnighting by hotel is undiskussable the breakfast. My husband and I are not very often living at hotels, so we really look foreward to get up a little earlear than usually, to have much time to spend on a lovely breakfast.
This was a big katastrof!
When we came down in the "lobby" there were served: Bread, butter, 2 sorts of marmelade, salami, ham and cheese. Tomato, cuecumber, orangeslizeis and melon. Then you could get: sausages, bacon and scramble egg. To drink: coffee, tea. Apple and orangejuice. That´s it! We were very dissipointed! People run everywhere to find things to eat on/with, it was no order to follow, and we sat down in low barchairs, with our knees, nearly up in the food. People smooked near behind, and our lovely breakfast was a really fiasko! Where was all the good breakfast? This was nothing!!! I want to choose of many things, good as bad. Yougurt and that sort of food was none. there should be plenty of fruits, and sallads. And after the food ther should be "coffeebread". etc etc
I had seen forward to spend a weekend in my hometown, at the Great Gothia Towers. But I went home, really dissipointed. The good with our tripp was to see Riverdance, not staying at Gothia Towers
Three days in Gothenburg
from A TripAdvisor Member
Just got back from three days in Gothenburg. Had a fantastic time. Travelled with my 10 year son on City Airlines. Very good service and on time. Stayed at the Gothia Towers. The hotel was wonderful. Our room was lovely with terrific views of the city. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and the central location was very handy. So much to see and do. We purchased the Gothenburg pass which included free transportation and entrance to many museums and attractions. We ran out of time and have decided we must go back again soon. A lovely city with lovely people. I haven't stopped raving about it since we got back.
Stylish swedish comfort
from A TripAdvisor Member
While in the process of relocating to Gothenburg, we were fortunate to spend 4 nights here. The location and veiw were both great. Our hotel room was very HiPP and stylish. From the porthole on the bathroom door, to the suede chairs, and the soft damask linens, we were living in comfort. Room service was also very good, since we have a small child.
Would highly recommend, especially if your intending to go to Liesberg Park, its across the street.
